I've been looking all over at the quality of fleet level filters like Pro-Tec, PurolatorTECH, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Champ, NAPA ProSelect, etc..

Technicians of BITOG, what has been your favorite fleet filter you use on oil changes in the shop?

Problem with these posts is you'll get all sorts of answers since "Fleet Filters" means different things to different folks. I look at "Fleet" filters to mean the product that is positioned for service locations to change filters according to OEM mileage only & at a wholesale cheaper price than the rest of the companies product line. Purolator Tech would fit that description IMO. Whereas a Microgard Select would not. That is personal opinion only. I'd say if the company didn't offer a cheaper fleet/service filter then their basic filter offering could fit that description. Purolator Tech or others that fit that line would be my choice.

Hmmm, I see what you're saying and I would agree. As someone who does all their oil changes, I view a fleet filter as a quality filter that I don't have to worry about, at a reasonable price. Which, for me, is just WIX from RockAuto. I suppose the question I was posing is more so, what is your favorite fleet filter, that would be used in a shop or quick-change type of place, that serves to filter at the cheapest price point possible, maximizing profits, while maintaining some sort of quality.

Understood, Yeah I'd not call what you were looking for or needing as a "fleet filter". Those types of filters aren't really any major recommendation here simply because a lot of us forum members are just DIY & are not buying filters mainly sold to service centers. Moving along. There are a few filters where a lot of us recommend here that have good quality along with decent price. WIX XP if it has the reinforced backing, Purolator One or BOSS, Fram Ultra OG or FE, Premium Guard built filters or companies using the same builder. Microgard Select at Oreilly's & even some Microgard basics from Premium Guard or WIX.

I just posted a Microgard basic that was a WIX that looked better than the Premium Guard option so things can go different then what the forum collective say. The best thing you can do is go look at as many filters as you can at your local auto chains etc. All of them in my experience have not mattered for me to asking to look at them even when I have no plans of buying any. Go look at Autozone's STP brand...the list goes on. Nothing like hands on & seeing for yourself what you can see in front of you & take pics if you want to compare on appearance. To answer your question I'm a Purolator fan but I'm not loyally bound to use them. I use some currently made wire backed Fram Ultra's for example. Many I've listed here are not exactly in your category but thought it needed to be mentioned for "not having to worry about it".

We use the PurolatorTech filters.

If you're running a business maybe a place like AAP or O'Reilly will sell at a discount to a business account. If you're doing OCIs up to 10K miles, then use a filter better than a $3 "jobber" filter.
I tend to just use WIX for everything. I was just curious what technicians find to be their favorite “jobber” filter.

We stopped stocking jobber grade filters over 10 years ago. We use OES/OEM only with rare exceptions, like the 2004 Dodge Stratus coupe that came in today. Its got a Mitsu engine in it, but no one catalogs the Mitsu OE filter we stock for Mitsus for it so I wont use it for liability reasons (filter fails and yes I technically put the wrong filter on it). No OE mopar or Denso available today, used a Carquest blue. Thats the exception not the rule

AAP with “carquest” will be on the hook for warranty if their filter causes engine damage

^^ this is what I would consider a fleet filter. Stuff you can buy in bulk at wholesale prices - like a Protec or Baldwin.

If your ordering from RA, you have a far larger selection than fleet or jobber filters. I used to do WIX, but don't like them anymore because there louver openings vary a lot. In the low dollar range from RA I like the Hengst, or if you get the option for "various manufacturer" and the part number starts with PG - that is typically a Premium Gard filter - last I got was a Pronto. Ones before were parts plus. Very high quality.

Interesting, I like the approach.

Looking back, I should’ve title it “Jobber” instead of “Fleet” filter. In the moment, just couldn’t think of the word.

I only stock filters for my cars. But when the odd oil change comes in the shop I usually go with a Napa proformer along with Napa/Valvoline oil. Simple and to the point. I will alter the choices per use of each vehicle is outside of basic OCI.

For the Pronto, did the model begin with PG when you ordered it?
