Honeycrisp for its juiciness. Golden/yellow delicious are very good eating apples as well. We just bought a tree that is tagged to bear that fruit. We also bought a Granny Smith tree which is great for pies & drying.

The worst eating apple is probably an Arkansas Black.

I get them at Costco and Albertson's when they're available.

+1

I recently got some "Heaven Sent" from a local stand that were also sweet like a Honeycrisp

Just got some Honeycrisp. Thanks for the suggestion. I like them a lot. They're slightly sweeter than Fuji, but I still like Fuji quite a bit, too.

We pick Gala apples at a local orchard, the midsize ones with with lots of yellow on the skin seem to be the sweetest to me. Honeycrisp are good too but I've never had a grocery store one better than a fresh picked Gala. Golden Delicious are good too but they never seem all that fresh in the store even in season.

Golden Delicious for me!!

All of you Honeycrisp lovers, look out for the upcoming SweeTango apple. It's a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar. Developed by the University of Minnesota, it just started showing up in limited quantities this year. Honeycrisp and Zestar were also both developed at the UofM.

As much as I love traditional things, Red Delicious apples are gross! My parents have about 8 apple trees, and of course the Red Delicious always has the most apples!

No wonder:
"As new cultivars with improved color and earlier harvestability have replaced the original cultivar in commercial orchards, the taste and texture of the harvested commodity have deteriorated, and many customers have begun to reject the Red Delicious at the food market."
