I've used all kinds of stuff. Febreze, ozium, and a bunch of others. My recent favorites have been ozium for odor removal, and chemical guys new car smell spray for freshening. I recently got some of their strawberry margarita air freshener spray and really like it. Anyone else tried it? What do you guys use and like? Pine tree air freshener from the rear view for style points of course....

I open the window until the smell is gone. Not interested in unnecessarily breathing in chemicals.

I don't like packaged or commercially available air fresheners, most of them make me sneeze and make my eyes leak.

Luckily, the comforting and familiar smells of a hot engine get into the cabin when stopped - it doesn't make me sneeze and IMO smells better than any air freshener..

I hear lots of talk about Stripper Scent from Chemical Guys over on the detailing world forum..

I like Febreze Cotton Fresh.

Not sure if you get it in the US it comes in Aerosol form.

Also cracking open both front windows when parked up makes a huge difference.

Any heavy synthetic smell makes me gag. Whenever the car-wash people ask what fragrance I want when that's included in a detail package, I say NONE!!

Someone on a facebook group was going on about how great Chemical Guys 'Stripper' scent was, and someone else asked what it actually smelled like. My response was, "failure and humiliation." :-p

On the rare occasions when I've gotten a moldy funk going in the HVAC system (damp cool weather, ususally) I've always picked up an odorless evaporator core treatment spray from the parts store. The last one had a little too much scent for me, but it cleared out in a few days and took the moldy funk with it.

Yes, Gilley's may have burned but the memories remain along with the flagrance that has never left Pasadena's Spencer Highway.

Hahaha some pretty good responses here! I don't like the stuff they put in at the car wash. Smells like a blast of baby powder up your nostrils. Yuck. A couple sprays of a good smelling air freshener is nice but some are way too fake or funky smelling. I like ozium for getting rid of odors. Put on maximum ac recirculate with car running, spray a good 3-4 seconds of ozium all inside, close the door and let it run for about 5 minutes before letting it air out. The chemical guys sprays smell pretty good but not "chemically" I guess is the word. Ozium has that clean industrial scent but it goes away pretty fast.

This thread has me thinking, why put the fresh air intake under the hood. Just seems toxic. And here it is,

I was driving an Intrepid that started smelling of fingernail polish, then the air got warmer....well, i guess I was inhaling straight r134a from a leaking freon pipe under the hood. Glad it wasnt R12 as Ive heard things about it.
