Whats worse?

Did I mention its 13*F outside right now? And I like my car, thank you very much. I dont have enough money to keep a fleet of vehicles for different purposes. So I bought one that I thought could do most of what I wanted.

If my windows are not iced over I start my vehicles, put on my seat belt and drive off gently for the first few miles. If it's snowing or my windows are iced up I now start the vehicles while I'm scrapping of the ice. By the time I get done scrapping the ice the defroster is starting to put out warm air and I can drive away, again gently for the first few miles. It really pays to see where you're going

I didn't realize this was a fuel economy thread.

The old drive it to warm it up faster vs let it idle with no load and warm up slower can be debated forever, but I don't see how idling once warmed up causes fuel dilution or any problems for that matter. Maybe in an old carbureted car but anything made in the last few years has to run in closed loop all the time, including idle. Assuming the AF ratio is dead on, how does idling the car hurt anything but fuel consumption?
