What's with black interior?

Some interiors of vehicles we've recently owned. I really liked the BMW interior and the 2016 SRT interior, save the white stitching on the dash, which reflected badly in the windshield.

Black carpet is harder to keep clean, but it's just a signal that you need to.

I have a black on black car now, it is the hardest one to keep looking good, but it does look sharp.

I personally think selection of interior is contingent upon exterior and your personal preferences.

No doubt if the automakers can reduce cost by reducing variants, they'll market it to people in a way to influence them to covet that scheme.

My Durango had the tan interior, it got just as hot feeling as my all black interior 300. I like the black leather with white stitching far more

That reminds me of when the fox body Mustangs could be ordered with that hideous porno red interior

You can order red in some FCA products too, though personally I'm not a fan of it. I had it in my 2014 SRT and greatly preferred the deep tan I had in my 2016 GC and the black I have in my current one. The Trackhawk allows you to get a split grey/black interior as well.

I owned a car with this interior, and it was just as bad as you could imagine.

Oh my...Those seats remind me of the days when I road in the car with friends and their chain-smoking parents. Always stepped out smelling like an ashtray.

Black gets hot more quickly but it also sheds heat more quickly. My employer just gave me a black Aviator with black and brown interior. Lincoln calls the color scheme Ebony Roast with good reason. There are solar-powered window ventilators that help. Black seats don't show stains easily.

I love black interior and I have black interior in my Accord. My wife has the light grey cloth in her Civic and hates it. It shows dirt like no other. Even rain water will leave stains in the seat that I always have to go back and scrub out with cleaner

I admit I like most black on black vehicles but I'd never own one. My current color scheme on my Lucerne is gold mist exterior with mocha and cashmere interior with cloth seats.

I don't like fake leather, to hot in the summer with it sticking to you and to cold in the winter with all that sliding around and no I don't have seat warmers.

For me, I think it comes from being able to solely focus on driving and no bright objects in my peripheral vision -- whether it be day or night time. I have always found that light colored materials you seem to notice imperfections or separations/gaps easier.

This. We specifically got black interior in both vehicles this time around, as both my wife and I are very fond of it. Remote start prevents the sauna situation in the summer. We are also both fans of monochromatic paint schemes, which both vehicles have. That started with our '02 Expedition which was black w/black accents outside and we thought was sharp, although it had tan interior.

I despise the all black look, especially with no, or low gloss paint. Don't get me wrong, I like black, but it has to be glossy paint with chrome trim/wheels. What can I say, I'm old and like the more classic look...

I like this interior...the lighter colors don't look gloomy like the all black interiors do...

Black interiors aren't a big deal for me, although I do like the red leather option on a couple of Stinger GT1s I've looked at. The Coral Red and Cognac interiors in newer BMWs are also very attractive. One of my favorite interiors is the red millpoint cloth trimmed with red-stitched black Montana leather found in my Club Sport...

Cheap Japanese cars used to all have boring all-black interiors, including my Subaru.
The Mazda had patterned tan and beige.
The Toyota has solid light gray, which shows dirt too readily (and has odd interior material choices).
Overall, the Mazda had the best interior color choices.

I liked the color scheme in my 2007 Mazdaspeed3- and the sport seats were as supportive as the ones in my 2er and 3er:

I like this tone too

However, there is that Nutmag or so that Toyota or Lexus does, its ugly as [censored] to me; steering away...

I'm not much of a fan of black interiors either. I would have preferred at least saddle brown seats in the Genesis, but I bought it used for a decent deal so it's fine.

I kinda like it, although the console shifter ruins it IMO--better with a column shift. Dated but it fits the era.

Red colour interior makes you feel anxious and angry.

Blue, cream white and dove are more calming.

My Rogue select had charcoal black interior, but the headliner and A and C pillar were Dove.

Car interiors are no fun anymore, I was excited to go see the new cars when they came out with my Dad in the late 50's and 60's
to see what surprises the designers had.

Here is a Buick Electra from 1960 :
