What's up with the price of a Hair Cut

I've been going to the same stylist for years. He's at master stylist level but he only charges me and my best friend 15 bucks. That includes, shampoo, cut, rinse (to get the hair out), style. Of course I tip him well. Too bad he's in Houston. Now that I am working for Lsu's Office of Orientation, I have to look professional for orientation. I just got my hair cut today.

Same exact thing here. But #8 top, #2 sides, then blend with inbetweens. I paid $30 I think. At least it is made in USA. $5 more than one not. Worth it I think. I'm definitely going to put more effort into buying American in light of recent news. And the fact that the little plastic hand held "American" flags at parade last week had "made in china" printed on them. Doesn't that make you want to puke.
I cut our boys' hair too...saves us $550/yr doing all three of ours. And that's if it was only once a month.

I pay $6 per haircut and I get it cut once per week. So that comes out to something like 50 haircuts per year...I don't bother tipping them though since I go to the same place every week. That place has 8 chairs and usually at least 4 people cutting.

The PX charges $4 but they usually have a 1 hour wait or more. Recently for some reason they eliminated their numbering system (those little tickets with numbers) so now people acutally have to wait and stand in line for an hour instead of grabbing a ticket and coming back 50 minutes later.

About 10 years ago I bought an electic hair cutter and haven't paid for a haircut since. I do like Andy H:

I cut my own, not too difficult with electric clippers, a big bathroom mirror, and a hand mirror (to help me see when I cut the back). Of course I do keep my hair pretty short, but it does have some style beyond a simple crew-cut. Haven't been to a haircut place or a barber in probably 5 or so years.

Would that be a drive-thru?

It's called the barber school. I tried it a couple times many years ago. Second time I had to walk out before the student butchered my hair.

I'am laughing and weeping at the same time. I wonder what is more expensive in the US. We have to pay $15-18 for a cut, $2.40-2.50 for gallon of RON95, $800-1200 for 72 cm TV set. This is a full arse. "Arse" is not a part of the body, but it's an event. And what is a full arse ? This is a life full of events.

I don't mind a bit paying the Vietnamese girl down the street $15 and a $5 tip to cut my hair. I go every couple of months, and though she doesn't cut it any better than my wife did, for now she's the one cutting it, so I'll pay her.

Some things are best left to professionals, like haircuts and oil changes. Seriously, check out local hospitals where the doctors get their's done. Typically very cheap and they are experts at the "white-boy" cut. I've ditched the salon girl for the YMCA. Those guys have been there forever, my uncle sent me. Their price just wnt up to about $15. I have clippers for maintenance and need only a few cuts a year. Similar to the "top-off" in oil service.

my best friend does the same thing. he bought a clipper set and cuts his own hair. I pay 9 bucks plus tip. I use coupons whenever I find them. you guys get haircuts every week?
