What's the most redneck thing they sell at HF?

Here we have another false blanket statement.

But it is cute!

They deliver quite a shock. My voltmeter goes to 1000V and the electric flyswatter immediately maxed it out. Hard to tell exactly how much voltage it has without a better meter.

If the coil has a 500:1 winding ratio that should make around the advertised 1500 volts off two D-cells. The geniuses behind this invention probably based their rating off of this.

A stationery bug zapper, you sit and watch. With the tennis racket of death, you are part of the action!

I've heard it attracts fish if sprayed on worms.

Don't touch them. They make sparks fly out of your hands.

I guess you've never had to dry out a wet tractor distributor.

The fry swatter is currently $3.99 at my HF. I didn't buy it (I already have one) but I noticed they applied my 25% off coupon to the already on-sale 3" ceramic paring knife, bringing that from $6.99 to $5.24. Maybe a 25% off coupon would bring the fry swatter down to $2.99.

The swatter is best used indoors, in cooler weather. When I've tried it outdoors the flies are too fast to react and the head feels like it'll separate from the handle.

Hello, jcwit: You're are right. Was in a H.F. today and saw cans of 3M spray adhesive and I had overlooked the several spray paint/primer offerings from Krylon. Maybe the occasional batch of cheap electric tape comes down the pike with the stars and stripes on the label.

Can anyone come up with another? Kira

OOpps if this constitutes a thread hijacking. K

Somehow I got a $1.99 coupon for the swatter. May have been from "hot rod" magazine or the incessant mail flyers I'm getting for a soft grand opening of a store in my state.

The swatters are made of the most brittle plastic available, so either buy a bunch, save the receipt, or get some of that duct tape to repair the handle upon its inevitable failure.

I have about 5 of those swatters. Nothing more entertaining that getting mosquitos or flys midair.. ZAP.

They take 2D's so it lasts about forever vs the chintzy 2AA models sold elsewhere.

The torch is great for weeds on a gravel driveway

Comments about Greenwood Propane Torch with Push Button Igniter:
Quote:

Very powerful. Honestly, I was a little surprised that this thing was legal considering the power/danger. Makes lighting brush/wood fires and killing weeds a breeze. Sometimes the flame blows it self out, so be careful with the propane flowing and no fire, that could be dangerous. The lighter on mine has worked fine, lights first or second try but only if the gas flow is dialed down to minimum.

or the no igniter version

Those swatters are garbage. If you actually need to get rid of mosquitos, because youre in a location where screens and climate control just dont cut it (like in the Caribbean), then you need to buy "The Jolt" which has less protection and a better shock.

These things may be "redneck", but they have their place.

That would be the Off Road Commode:

(Don't think HF sells them, but Northern tool sells just as many redneckish items as HF, if not more )
