1ststruck,
I've got one remarkably similar. 100MPH in a 50MPH zone, and let off with a warning.

My neighbour, who worked with them reckoned that they didn't want to spoil the chase (race?) by using their lights.

Somewhere between 110 and 120 mph in my 1970 Camaro with the 307 2 barrel carb engine on interstate 79 between Fairmont and Morgantown, WV in 1984. Had bias tires and they started shaking real bad at 100 mph, but I pushed it a little faster.

It was an '83 Suzuki with a fair number of miles on it, so it was probably late 80s.

No chance that youve got a black vette and this was a red cobra (supercharged) that threw a rod, and died on the side of the highway?

118-123 mph in a 3800cc Camaro...on second run Speed Limiter cut fuel at 118-120.

Suspect possible speed deviation/error due to Plus 0+ oversize tire fitment (245/50/ZR16 98W over stock 235/55/R16 96T tires)

If the ECM only I knew they were Z-Rated tires we could have pushed it further

RPM at 120mph was around 4000 rpm with a 5500rpm redline. Can not remember exact tachometer reading due to inherent tunnel vision effect at that speed.

Suspect 130mph is easily capable but who knows.

Other than that 150+ mph in a Aircraft taking off...but that is no plane *lol*

Does it have to be a car???

I was at an indicated 130 for a little while today on my ride home from Panama City FL

It was only for about 1 mile or so.

Highest I've been in a car was 220K over in Germany in a 5 series BMW. Thats about 132 mph.

fastest or hairist?? 100+ at about age 17(1971) with 4 studded snow tires on 65 GTO racing another 65 on compaced snow and ice. Remember the studs getting my attention when they began popping out. This was the hairist-more like stupidist! 70 455GTO had 140mpg speedo pegged many times with bias-belt tires of the time-probaly 120mpg was closer to real speed. 1973 enroute to Portland,Ore. on I5, passed Wash. State Patrolman writing someone else a ticket in same 70 455GTO pegged at 140 with two other cars drafting off me. Slowed to 70 and about 10miles later was pulled over by him. He asked how fast I was going when I passed him, couldn't lie and say 70(speed limit) so I told him 80. He in turn said I should get my speedo checked because he just paced me at 80. Was given a 10over ticket which cost $25.00 back than. As soon as he headed bask the other way, was back up speed-- Everett, Wash/Portland, Ore about 200-210miles in 2.5hours--didn't think that was bad time being I had stopped for a ticket and a tank of gas.(the days of Goodyear Polyglas tires)

Can't forget the time in Germany on the Autobahn cuising along in a 1973 Chevy Malibu(USA "OD" green in color/350cu 4bbl) at about 100 in the middle of the nite passing everyone in sight only to be flashed from behind. No more had gotten moved to the slower lane and was passed by some wierd tail-lited aero looking thing that made me feel like I was sitting still. Almost went out of control when I realized I was still doing 100mph. Got to the rest stop and saw the car that had passed us, it was the first Lamborgini Contach I had ever seen. This was in 1975-6.

About 140 mph in my '90 Mustang 5.0 Then I hit a small bump and the back tires came loose. This scared me just a bit and I haven't attempted it again.

I once drove a friends BWM (I can't remember the model, but it was a full size luxury car), and it had similar power to my mustang, but the handling was sooooo much better at 100 mph.

I don't know my speedometer stops at 85.

I took my old 88 GP (w/2.8 186,000) to 114 no sweat the day before I sold it.

160 MPH - In the #42 Bell South Chevy Monte Carlo Winston Cup Car. It was Joe Nemechek's Cup car during the 98 NASCAR Season.
I enjoyed the thrill of driving it for 10 laps around the Texas Motor Speedway. The car was owned and operated by Team Texas High Performance Driving School. What an adrenaline rush!!! This car felt like it was on rails and could have easily gone much faster, but the driving school had it governed at 160. The vibration, noise, and responsiveness of the car was amazing!!!
As far as a street car is concerned I got my old 79 Camaro up to 115 MPH (first car from the high school days). Scared me to death when the front end started to shake and the car felt like it was lifting off the ground. I shut her down and said to myself "that was stupid".

I had my '69 Bronco doing 110 the other week on HW14 east of Ault in CO. Pretty fast for a flying brick on mud tires. Been over 140 sustained in the silver state classic in my Pa's '67 shelby as a navigator.
I was also going down the mountain doing 90mph when the chain on my bicycle broke....

I don't remember if I got cramped up or not, that was back in summer 92.
It was probably in the top 5 stupid things I've ever done in my life.
All I had on was a helmet, beer shorts n boxers, shoes w/no socks.

What I do remember is how deafening the sound of the air blowing past the helmet was. It...was...loud.
How cold it was on my back.
I really scared myself that day. I passed this set of guardrails and took a second for it to settle in how quick I went by them. Then I started to think what if a moose come out on the road at moose corner or what if I hit a rock from a gravel truck that was hauling all day back n forth from my road.
I thought if I wipe out and live, I may as well get a gun and shoot myself becuase there'd be nothing left but raw meat and nothing left to live for.
Remembering of a fairly good looking girl who had an accident locally from hitting a bear then the bike fell on top of her and her jaw was worn right off from her face sliding down the pavement....*ugh*

Man I worked myself up to be so frightened; I slowed down hoping I wouldn't lose control of the bike and drove back to my cabin, parked my pal's bike and never touched another bike for 6 years.

I still don't have any desire to get on a bike nowadays.

Not as fast as many, but I did 110 in a Mercedes ML 320 once. I just hit the throttle hard, and it went and went. It was kind of neat, in a way I didnt know hat I was going that fast until I looked.

This was on an empty interstate, and I still think it was dangerous. It was only a minute or two, and by the end I was gettng used to the speed. At first i was just driving fast, but realized that it was too fast to look away from the road. When I got my courage, I realized I was doing 110 in an SUV and let it coast back down.

I am just lucky that there wasnt a trooper hiding to catch me... $$$$$$$

Done 135 numerous times in the Impala. Gets up to 118 very quickly, but then ovedrive kicks in and it CREEPS up after that. Still pulling at 135, but I always get scared of jail about that time. Feels like a steam roller going down the road at that speed, not "on the edge" at all. It "likes" 90 MPH. Interested in what it will do with the mods I'm making, but scared(for the transmission) to find out.

I've done in the 170s on a ZX11. Saw the telephone poles clicking by, started calculating the distance I'd slide if the front tire blew out... Amazing how long it takes to come down to sane speeds from that fast. 80 felt like slow motion.

My '86 Fazer will pull 135, rev limited, and it gets there in under 1/3rd of a mile. 'friggin awesome. Feels "skittish" above 120 and maintains a low frequency speed wobble. Likes 80.

The Festiva will do about 105, rev limited in 4th, or 95, drag limited, in 5th. Really feels the need for stiffer sway bars at that speed. I tend to stay around 85 in that car. Starts to feel like the rubber band is stretching too tight above that. Is most comfortable at 70. Has some sort of "stealth" when it comes to cops. Oposite of the Impala in that regard, and many others...
