I should add I had 150 miles per day many times on a old Kawasaki 175 F7 2 stroke. It would run 75 flat out but I ran it about 55 all of the time. I had to stop every 40 or 50 miles to let my hands stop tingling from the vibration. The bike was just as solid as could be though. I was young at the time and never thought twice about going anywhere on it.

I hate to brag, but I rode a 2003 1200 HD Sportster (rigid engine mounts) 1035 miles in about 18 hours for the purpose of joining the Ironbutt Association. Had to keep records and receipts for fuel / food stops / times etc. and submit all that stuff for certification. That being said, my butt was draggin' when I got off that bike. . .I think I slept for about 12 hours. . .and I couldn't feel the fingers on my right hand for a few days. . . .I'm proud of that certificate though!

^^ I also have a 97 Sporty 1200 and have done a couple 13+ hour 2-up rides stopping for gas. I have the Ultima gel/foam seat which makes a big difference along with ISO grips and cushy floorboards. Got the older better Ultima before they went to a cheaper construction. I'm able to ride all day and still walk after the ride. Still a little buzzed up, but not bad - I've had worse.

Hey! you were 5 mph faster than my CB125S was flat out in a full tuck.

But I would go anywhere on that bike. Off-road? No sweat. As long as it's not too muddy. Did some serious trails with street tires. Interstate? The speed limit was 55 then and as long as the hill wasn't too steep or long, it would do that. I was 15 and it was my first taste of freedom. Used to visit a girl 30 miles away that just wanted to be friends, you know....just in case she changed her mind. Made the trip to Austin to visit my dad. I rode everywhere in every condition.

Seems insane now riding at night with just that sealed beam 6 volt headlamp lighting the way.

LOL, thats cool and I too remember that 6 volt system. I never even thought about it back in the day. I actually had my old Kaw up to 80 on flat ground when I was young and so light. It took the bike to 8500 rpm which was 500 over the red line. It would scream for such a small engine. I road it on trails and made big hill climbs and jumps, wheelies you name it. Like I said I was young at the time.

Many years ago I rode a Honda SilverWing (GL 500) about 550 miles in a single day. Raleigh, NC to north of Dayton, OH. Didn't feel too bad but I was a lot younger also.

I rode a Honda CBR600F3 from Richmond, VA to South florida - about 850 miles. Most of it one day, the rest the second. No ill effects. I was probably 25 at the time.

I think my current 1000 is physically smaller than that 600 was, a few weeks ago I rode 6-8 hours a day for 5 days straight - I was in the mountains and only covered about 1,000 miles due to low average speed. By the 5th day my wrists and lower back were pretty beat. Now I am about 40.

About 440 miles on a GPz550. (SLC area to Tonopah)
I don't remember feeling particularly tired; if anything, I found the ride across Nevada relaxing and enjoyable. Did another 400+ mile ride the very next day to arrive in central Ca.

I have done more than a few 300 plus mile days on my 2007 FZ6. No problems really. My rear gets a little sore after 300 miles, arms and wrists are fine.

I used to have a 1997 Honda 750 Nighthawk setup for long distance riding (Givi bags, heated grips, heated jacket liner, etc) and rode a bunch of 1000 mile days (Minnesota 1000 sponsored by Teamstrange). The longest was the Great Lakes Gold- 2500 miles in 48.5 hours. I did a little over 2000 in less than 30 hours on a different ride. I have a '98 Goldwing now and it's almost like cheating riding long distances. I've done a couple 200+ mile days on my Ninja 250.

About 100 miles on my 64cc 1995 Tomos A35 Sprint. 9000 teeth rattling RPMs and 50mph. That's about all my back can take. I'm hoping to get my endorsement and buy my friend's 70s Yamaha RD350.

OK, start the way back machine. 1978, San Diego,Ca to San Francisco,Ca in 12 hours. Highway 1/101. 18 years old. Had about $2000.00 cash in my pocket and it never occurred to me to stop and get a room! Rode right by the Madonna Inn. Youth is wasted by the young.

1976 Kawasaki Kz 400. Those were good little motorbikes.
