What’s the difference between Lucas UCL and FP60?

I doubt that either will be able to expand much! That whole confidentialaity(sp) agreement thing gets in the way of any meaningful conversation. They can talk about charteristics but that would probably be the end of it.
I have never used FP60 but realy like the LC. I have used Lucas UCL for a long time off and on and have always had good results with it. If your car is in good working condition Lucas UCL will general keep it clean and will boost fuel milage. If your car is in bad shape and has some carbon issues or ping and knock then FP would probably be a better choice.
Lucas UCL did well in Bob Winters origanal fuel cleaner study. I wish his studys/tests were readily available on this site. I think the moderators keep them under look and key and only bring them out once in a while!

How much is Lucas UCL ? I think it was pretty cheap if you buy it by the gallon + no shipping. But I can't remember exactly how much.
Ive used both, plus other products. I've never really felt/noticed an immediate improvement using any fuel additive products. I suppose you might if you have a severly neglected fuel system.
I think its a matter of personal preferance about which product to use. I'd like to see some visual tests of these products, like Gary was doing with MMO.

What I found with Lucas, is that it would stop detonation, from excess carbon, while it was in the tank, but once it was run out, the detonation would come back. I ran a full quart of it through my GFs Explorer, with the same effect each time.
With the FP, It would stop the detoantion while in the tank, but it would come back reduced. After a few tanks, the detonation was gone for good. This tells me that Lucas has an effect, but it does not clean.

So the general consensus is that Lucas UCL is great for maintenance, but FP60 will clean better?
I wish the Lube Control guy “lcd” could say more than “completely different.” Could you at least confirm that FP60 has more cleaning ingredients than Lucas UCL, or something along those lines? Or at least tell me why you think FP60 is better?

I buy 32 once bottle of Lucas UCL for $5 at Meijers. I always get 1-2 MPG bettetr with it in the tank. I have never had a fuel injector related problem so I can not really claim that any brand of fuel additive has ever done much for me. I use as preventive maintence.
Once or twice a year I will run a bottle of Redline SI1 fuel injector cleaner just to make sure they are clean. I know Redline will clean any deposits but I have no clue about Lucas UCL in this reguard. I use Lucas UCL all the time as a maintence item and to increase my fuel millage!
Redline's product has neverincreasedmy milage like Lucas UCL does but it does clean well. IT is concentrated and also very afordable. I think it runs about $5 a botle and one bottle will do 100 gallons of fuel as a maintnece item if you need to clean you use the whole bottle to one tank.

LUCUS UCL-- NAPA stores sell the gallons for around $22.00. I have been using it for the last 70+thou miles of my 107+thou miles in my 98 Suzuki Swift and have averaged a 4 to 5%(+2mpg) increase in gas milage overall. The car is EPA rated at 39to43 and have averaged 43to45 with my long run highs of 48mpg many-a-time where before the best I could ever get was 46. My 96 Metro 4cyl(same car as the Suzuki Swift never had it in it and I averaged 41-43mpg the whole 216thou I drove it-which I had known about UCL when I had it. EPA was 39to43 for it also.)
The Suzuki Swift has a 10.3 gal tank with my normal 6 to 8+ gal fillup I put in appox 2oz each fill. I have two 2.5oz bottles that some kind of fuel injector cleaner came in that I had gotten from Autozone years back that I refill and keep in the car. They fit inside the gas filler neck just right. Before I got them I had been using LUCUS's 5.25oz single serving bottles that cost over $3.00 each(a little costly buying it that way being you can get the qts for $6-7 and gal's for the $22)

Has anyone ever had a problem with fouled plugs after using an upper cylinder lubricant, like FP or Lucas? I wonder about what happens to the oil in those products when it burns. Burning oil typically leaves some sort of residue.

Have some black tail pipe residue but have never had any plug fouling problems. Use Bosch +2's and after 50thou they still looked good!! - could have kept them in if I had wanted too.
