I've just purchased a 5 qt. jug of Pennzoil Synthetic Blend 5w30. I believe it's most likely a fine oil, and a good value. It's a 50% blend, or so it says on the back of the jug, and I was just wondering what ya'll thought of it.

I think its a good deal because it's only $1.50 more than Pennzoil conventional, Dexos approved, and 50% synthetic. The Platinum is actually about $7 more than the blend. At my Walmart, the blend is around $17.97 and the Platinum is about $25.17. If you are planning on doing oil changes at the 5-7k mile mark the blend is clearly more cost effective.

i tried it and it seems to be a good oil i did not have a chance to do a used oil analysis on it yet but it seems ok.. I like the syn blend in the old engines more than the Full Synthetic because the Full Synthetic seems to leak more

Very good value in my opinion. Since its Dexos approved, you know what you're buying.

I'm wanting to give that a try next winter in a 5w30 flavor. Better cold flow for one, but I'm wondering if it will have better anti shearing properties compared to Pennzoil Conventional 5w30.

I can't understand why Pennzoil don't have it 10w30. Some cars out there still specify it.

Heck, even Pennzoil's own oil selector recommends 10w30 for my car.

They have a 10w30 blend called Pennzoil Gold.

Funny, me too.

I'm thinking it is one heck of a bargain, but I'd sure wish we had a PQIA VOA or a couple of good used oil analysis on here so I knew what was in it. If it has the same add pack as Pennzoil conventional but is 50% syn it'd be time to back up the truck ha ha.

I'm going to use it in my mother's 2011 Malibu with the 2.4 EcoTec. Non DI, non turbo, so I think it will hold up great. Hers has the Dexos requirement for warranty.
