Where would u find those red line products. And they actually make a 70w80 that will work in a Saturn? How come the cavaliers with the izuzu tranny uses syncromesh? Are there differences that warrant dexron in a Saturn and not syncromesh or a regular gear oil?
I have a Pontiac with an Isuzu tranny and originally the recommended fluid was 5w30. As I understand it, GM then changed it to Dexron 3, then Syncromesh, and then finally Manual Transmission Fluid which I believe is still the current OEM fluid for that MT2. What I have in it now is 1 qt. of RP syncromesh and the balance GM syncromesh. Switching from 5w30 to that got rid of the grinding into 1st, but in cold weather it will creep in neutral now presumably because this is thicker oil when cold.
That's kind of the GM way, you know, trying to go with newer and better fluids that are backwards-compatible whenever practical. If Saturn said no to Synchromesh it was probably just someone deciding it's too expensive to justify small if any benefit.
