They do have those portable battery packs now so you can charge your battery with your battery. Because, yo, dawg...

On topic my sister's car broke down (battery terminal) in a walgreens parking lot in the late 1990s. She had posession of dad's "family cell phone" and dad was just thrilled to the gills that she had it. I pointed out that she could walk 30 feet to the walgreens and use a landline...

Air inflator, jug of washer fluid, jack, tire plugs, shop towels, and a cell phone wherever I go. I live in the city and dont really have a need to carry a ton of stuff.

Just a few basic tools, some rags, gloves, tie downs, and tape.
If that fails, the cellphone and credit card get used!

30-gallon heavy yard bags

This can get me out of almost any jam-up I can foresee.

Including a lack of consensual relations?

I have:

Complete tool set
Road flares
JNC 660
Electric Air compressor
Tire Repair Kit
Electric Impact Gun
Standard and metric Impact sockets
10,000 Lumen LED flashlight
3.5 ton aluminum floor jack
Magnetic tool tray
Tow straps
Spare fluids
Spare serpentine belt
11 mil PVC rubber gloves
GOJO hand wipes
Ratcheting breaker bar
Digital multimeter
Funnel set
Shop towels
Starting fluid

......could be forgetting something....

A doctor's bag with flashlight, rain jacket, large screwdriver, tire inflator, folded-up space blanket
An X-wrench; I don't trust the tire wrench that comes with the car
Jumper cables
Small flat tool case with gloves, crescent wrenches, Allen wrenches, smaller screwdriver, pocket knife
If I'm on a trip, I load the aftermarket bottle jack in case of a flat
Nowadays, a cell phone to call AAA

When I lived in CO, I kept a small folding shovel in the trunk, in case I ever had to dig my wheels out of the snow; and thick cardboard, to provide some surface to get me out of the snow.

I should include a first aid kit.

Probably too much, I keep it in an old gym bag in my car, and in some storage cubbies in my wife's truck.

First aid kit
Ratchet set
Pliers
Adjustable Wrench
Flat and phillips screwdrivers
Multi-tool
Utility knife
Rope
Ratchet Straps
Bungee Cords
Zip ties
Gorilla tape
Old hoodie
Blanket
Towell
Couple contractor bags
Couple bottles of water
Gloves
Tire inflator
Tire plugs

The truck also has some tow straps, and recovery straps, and a d-ring hitch.

Probably forgot a few things, that are always in the car.

Wow, after reading this I feel pretty unprepared lol.

I have a 10" knife, and the 11 year old spare in the trunk that I keep inflated.

You guys with spare serpentine belts must be better mechanics than me. I just replaced my serpentine belt in a 2006 Civic in my heated garage. Took me 2 hours for a 15 minute job on ramps. . Cussing all the way. There's no way I'd replace it beside the road.

You actually bring up a good point. Everyone on here has listed the items they keep in their cars in case of emergencies, but I wonder how many of us regularly check the inflation on our spare tires. I know I've gone years forgetting about it before. I just filled it up about 9 months ago, I should go check it out to see where it's at.

Yeah I check it every 6 months or so, usually about 2 psi low. It would suck to be in the middle of nowhere with a flat and then go through all the work of putting the spare on then realizing it's flat too. Even though it's 11 years old it has maybe 30-35 miles on it and has seen daylight twice. Works fine for what it is, a spare.
