I noticed something the past few days. Not to say anything mean against new members, because we were all there once- but 75% of posts I've seen the past few days have been posted by people with less than 150 posts total. Where are all the "old guys", lately?

Can I ask that people have more meaningful post titles?

It is a simple courtesy so people can determine what they want to read, and what they do not.

Thank you.

This used to be an information site. Now it's an opinion site, with less and less info to back up that opinion by the day...

+1. And IMO that answers the question...

I am guilty in some way. But hey, when people just smear me and my work with accusation from some "google result" rather than technical and rational logical argument, I do get ticked off and feel the need to defend my position.

Old guys do get burn out, and are not as post happy as the new members, so I'm not surprised they just leave or ignore the nonsense regardless of which side of the opinion they held.

Not that I'm one of the old guys or anything, but except for popping in from time to time to check on stuff in the small engines and computer sections, I'm really not feeling it lately. It's because of a lot of things, I guess, but part of it is that I'm still getting over Gary being dead.

And some of the new guys are weirdos. LOL. No, I'm not naming names.

I've been stalked by one in the pm trying to pick a fight / trolling, as well as one trying to start an argument after his post was removed / locked by the admin.

Sigh, the good old days when people stop if their posts get locked.

So? That doesn't mean you shouldn't know what your talking about when you post something.

It's spring. Most of the "old guys" are homeowners with families. Getting outside and spending time with family trumps posting on an Internet forum for most people this time of the year.

No they aren't. You did a poll or something?

If you are being harassed by anyone via PM's please let me know. I will discuss the problem and if that fails I will ban the offender. If it is serious then I will ban immediately.

I had one BITOG member PM me and sent about 12 verses from the Bible and told me that I was going to burn in [censored] for what I posted in topic and I guess he didn't like what I wrote (I even forgot what that topic was about). He rambled on that I was a bad person and I had no soul. The guy sent me two diffrent PM's and I actually felt sorry for this poor guy had nothing better to do with his free time than to be sending me verses from the Bible.

He was kind of creepy and reminded me of David Koresh from Waco TX.

Every forum has its zealots. On another forum, I voted in a poll (it was a "yes or no" type question). Some guy didn't like my choice and started a war with me over it.

I don't need that kind of e-drama in my life. I haven't looked at that forum since.

Haha not that I was an old timer , but I post much less on here because of the heavy moderation. Not sure why. Maybe perhaps my opinions will get the threads locked up:D

Alot of really good people have left here..Makes it less fun here..But there are still alot of really good people here with a wealth of knowledge which is good!

What I find strange is alot new newbies come on here really strong and are ready to get into MMA cagefight with some of the members..Not many [as most are nice] but a sprinkling of them do.

But when newbies go a [Ford,Chrysler,Toyota or whatever car they drive board] they are sooooo nice that if they were come to your neck of the woods you would take them in with no problem..They are totally afraid to make waves right away..If they do make waves they apologize profusely.

Maybe thats what happens when you have a board [like this one] that everyone drives a different car.

That is just IMHO!

What makes you think they are newbies and not just reincarnations?

The hottest debates I've read or been involved in, were all brand related - starts usually with a thread about a recall or something similar, then a few jabs at the brand from those who aren't fans of the brand (and feel the need to get that out there so everyone can benefit from that knowledge), then turns into a free for all until the inevitable lock comes.

That is absent on owner forums because everyone is driving the same thing, so even when there is hostility vented toward the brand over an issue, its coming from a frustrated owner who the other members can still sympathize with - rather the 'uh huh, see they do make garbage' type responses you see here from those - who again - aren't fans and very vocal in those threads about that.

So yeah, I think you kind of hit the nail on the head. I imagine its particularly alienating to those who are owners with a legitimate issue related to the topic, but don't dare post anything about it because they can read already from the tone of the thread, that rather than helpful or useful information, it'll simply further fuel the brand bashers or be otherwise met with scorn or ridicule.
