Found this on my parents' Acura MDX today as I changed the oil. They didn't remember where it was last serviced, but it was about 5,700 miles prior. The filter is a "Servicepro". I can't tell what it looks like.

Sorry for the poor quality pic. And I know, the mounting gasket is gone. I don't know where it went. It wasn't on the filter adapter, I checked that before installing the new filter. I even took OFF the new filter after I discovered this was missing the gasket and it was gone. So who knows.

Anyway, does this look like an old Champion Labs design (pre Ecore)? The media cartridge is coil spring loaded, but the bypass valve is pretty cheap. It's a coil spring loaded check valve at the bottom of the media cartridge, but it was very easy to bind it up, and for it to not seat properly.

For my money, I'd rather have any of the Purolator re-badges anyday (like the Advance Auto filters or the Pro Select filters or whatever it is that Pep Boys sells).
