What's a crash damaged Subaru worth?

Friend of mine hit a high curb/ pole with his 2018 Subaru Impreza. Ripped out the driver's side wheel, took out the fender, headlight, wheel and bumper skin, airbags did not deploy. Engine runs fine. 50k miles on it.

Owner wants to sell it as is instead of repair, how much should he ask for it?

All the crash damaged parts have been removed, but of course the car does not roll due to the missing wheel.
It's a 5 speed manual.

Do you have some Pics you can show us?

Issue is, what appears to be minor damage is often much worse than expected. And it often costs way more than expectected to restore it to OEM spec. All this to say, that without a body shop inspection/estimate it's really difficult to give an accurate answer here. It's why vehicles like this are auctioned off, because the value really comes down to what someone is willing to risk..

I'm assuming he had no insurance or it was bare minimum coverage on that 2018 as that route he's going is very rare. Frankly I would only ever do that if I had no insurance and no money to fix it and wanted to sell it so I could get a running and driving beater.

No collision insurance?
He does have collision, but for reasons of his own has no interest in going through insurance. There are probably already a couple strikes against him and his rates would sky rocket if he claimed this....

Not to take this off topic, but he's paying for the insurance service for a reason. I don't understand NOT using insurance unless A) it's a junker or B) the costs are relatively close to deductible. I don't think either of those scenarios fit here.

Yes, rates will likely take a hit but he should still come out ahead in the long run.

I'm thinking the person in question has a questionable driving history or many claims and doesn't want another.

Yep, understood. There's going to be lumps either way, but I think taking the out of pocket hit will be the larger of the two. Once we have pictures it will be clearer, because racking up $5k worth of repairs for a minor fender bender is quite normal.

OP has said elsewhere the owner feels vehicle is "cursed."

I'm not saying that's logical or not, but I've certainly become disgusted enough with certain things I'm unwilling to invest more time or effort
