What toothpaste do you use?

Remember methadent? The redline/amsoil of toothpaste

I used Mentadent for years, is that what you mean?

I now buy really big tubes of the basic Crest toothpaste and they last for a LONG time, even though I brush every day.
My dentists always used to recommend a hydrogen peroxide toothpaste for my gums, but either I got them into tip top shape or that type of product is no longer in vogue as I have not been pushed that way in several years. My doctor in my HS years told me to rinse my mouth with hydrogen peroxide solution and I also did that for a long time.

My wife is a dentist. She tells patients all the time to buy the cheapest toothpaste you can get that contains fluoride or Sensodyne if you have sensitive teeth. Whitening toothpastes are a waste of money and the rest of the stuff is pretty much unnecessary.

We have $0.79 a tube Dollar General stuff in our house right now.

She does however, strongly suggest getting a toothbrush similar to the Sonicare Diamondclean, soft bristles of course.

Another little bitty secret... while flossing is important... you don't have to do it 3 times a day. You do, however, need to brush after meals AND ensure you get any food out from between your teeth.

Pike51, that's pretty good advice.

Daughter just did a science experiment on mouth alcohol readings after brushing/mouthwashing...many of the "high end" "freshening" products (toothpastes included) had enough mouth alcohol to blow 0.25-0.4 (no, not a decimal place wrong there, but takes 15 minutes to blow away)

I wish they had Glide or glide like flosses when I was a teen, young adult. I have very tight contacts between teeth and regular floss used to break off and/or get caught between teeth. Hated it. Glide comes along, and now flossing is a breeze. I likely wouldn't have so many fillings and crowns now, but overall 'for my age' teeth not in too bad of shape. All relative.

I also really like Gum brand Soft-Picks, great for getting food out from between teeth after meals.

I use Tom's of Maine. Has no flouride and makes your teeth feel like you were just at the dentist. I like the sensitive teeth kind.

3D Crest white and it works for whitening. I always get compliments on how white my teeth are. Drinking coffee regularly had my teeth pretty dull and yellow. Not anymore.

Arm and Hammer. I keep my eyes open, and stock up on the stuff when it is on sale for $1.99 for the big tube (6 or 7 oz) in the grocery stores by me. The CVS and Walgreen prices are blatant highway robbery for the stuff.

Me too....it's also very much less expensive than even the 99cent tubes.

I don't want white "paint" in my toothpaste and unfortunately most stuff has it ( Titanuim Dioxide).

I had used Mentadent for years and I am now suffering withdrawal symptoms!

I'm using a combination of Spry and Armand Hammer

Same here, I tried it once and actually noticed a cleaner feeling mouth, like it has little abrasive grit in there. I used Sensodyne before that since my teeth get sensitive (the Crest Pro Health has the antisensitivity stuff too).
