So I have moved on from the Jeep realm and have stepped into an Acura TL. It uses 5w20. What oil should I use? I drive around town mostly during the week and put the big miles on the weekends. I've put 6000 miles since I bought it.

I was looking at the following:
MC 5w20
PP 5w20
Syntec 5w20

I haven't been keeping up with oil lately...

Thanks!

+1 for the Motorcraft. It's good enough if you are going to change the oil when the OLM says to change it, which is a good idea while you are on warranty.

Motorcraft simply performs too well to be overlooked, and it can be had for a very low price when it goes on sale. Follow your OLM and you should be golden.

Whatever the OLM says. It could be (doubt it) 3k or 9k....

But it seems to be very good at determining on when to change the oil. Also change the filter each time.

Take care, bill

Got it. Thank you! I'm still learning about this car. I didn't know how easy it is to work on. I just changed the Cabin Air Filter and saved $120 in labor! It took me 10 minutes.

Any oil filter recommendations or should I head over to that section? AcuraZine shows most guys using a Mobil 1 filter. Some use the OEM filter that isn't made by Fram.

The OLM on my wife's 06 TL calls for changes at about 6,000 miles with her driving. That car gets whatever the dealer puts in it.

My dealer uses Quaker State SynBlend. I think they may use the Fram model OEM rather than the FilterTech made OEM filter.

Its nice when cars are designed for service in mind. (back to your cabin filter change)

Pretty well anything that has a brand name that you know. I like the Supertechs (I think your takes the 7317) but they are now up to $3.48 so you may find something a little cheaper.

I've cut open dozens of the Supertech 7317 and everyone has been perfect.

Hi Bill,

I have seen the Purolator Premiums on sale for 2 for 5.00. That is a pretty good deal and comparable to ST. I am good on filters for quite awhile. Our Farm Fleet had the deal of all deals: 3.99 Mobil 1 EP oil filters. I bought 24 of those little rascals, so I am good for awhile on the Corolla and Saturn.
