I am in Cleveland the next 3 days while my wife attends a conference. Aside from the rock n roll hall of fame what else should I do? It is raining (grrrrrrrrr......) so walking needs to be close to the Intercontinental Hotel.

FYI... Cleveland traffic is crazy. What a nightmare I-90 was last night.

Don't waste your time. That place sucks. It's ridiculous. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 2.5 at best. And I LOVE music, rock and roll, guitars, music history, etc. etc.

Check out the Science Center right next to the Rock Hall. Plus it has an I-max theatre inside which is a separate charge from the regular admission. I think they have combo packs available. http://www.greatscience.com/

If you like awesome corn beef sandwiches check out Slymans deli for breakfast or lunch. Probably a 10 minute easy drive from the hotel but it closes around 2pm. Many presidents have stopped there during campaign visits. http://www.yelp.com/biz/slymans-restaurant-cleveland

There's a massive contruction project taking place that connects I-90 though downtown called the Inner Belt. Basically contructing two huge bridges from one end of downtown to the other. Once that's finished traffic will be much much better.

+1 on the Cleveland Art Museum, if you like art. Playhouse Square is also good. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was okay, but I wasn't blown away.

Great Lakes Brewery has good food and good local brews.

I like the great lakes science museum, and the Cleveland art museum. If you get a chance, go catch an orchestra performance by the Cleveland Orchestra. They're good!

As for eating, I would recommend Slymans. They're corn beef sandwich is heavenly. WTH, any of their corn beef dishes are heavenly! Not too far from downtown.

Now that I mentioned it, my keyboard is wet!

Have fun!

In other words....get out of there FAST!!!

My first inclination was to tell you to visit the USS Cod. But, it's closed for the season now. http://www.usscod.org/

Cedar Point is a good choice, too. I havn't been there in nearly 15 years, but I'm sure it is still an awesome place.

Yeah, it was pretty lame. I had a group pass so at least I didn't pay full admission. I walked around the science center and down by the water. That was more fun than the rock and roll hall of fame. I was going to go to the science center but it seemed to be more kid oriented than adult when looking at the website.

The people in this town are RUDE. Nobody says hello or good morning or makes eye contact. The nicest people I have met are the service staff at the hotel. If you don't walk around passing out $20 bills you don't exist. Meals here at the hotel are ridiculous. I walked a block to the hospital and ate in their cafeteria and had AWESOME food for cheap.

Also the Cleveland zoo is pretty good but they might try to keep you.

I walked up and down the side of the William Mather and took some pictures. It was amazing to see a boat like that in person.

Yeah, I really, really wanted to see it.

My 10 yr old nephew got a kick out of the USS COD. A veteran gave us the tour. Getting down into it was like stepping down into a manhole cover. The inside is in excellent condition. Most of the food was stored through out the sub. Big metal containers of ketchup in the front of the sub along with canned fruit. They did a great job of re-creating it. My brother and I had to pry my nephew off the machine gun top side. Plus the engine room still smelled like oil.

The people downtown can be like you mentioned. Busy, bustling city. But get out in the perimeter just 10 minutes and it's a complete different story.

Monday, Wed, Fri, and Sat the Westside market will be open. Talk about cheap and delicious food. Gyros, bratwurst, oh man...My dad goes there a few times during the week and its 25 miles away. Fruits and veggies outside. Meats, cheese, breads inside. Check out Franks Bratwurst stand.

http://www.westsidemarket.org/about.html Great Lakes brewery is across the street.

I am going to the west side market on Friday. I didn't realize it wasn't open on Thursday until I got back here this afternoon and gave my car back to the valet. I should have gone there this morning but I planned on going tomorrow.
