because its doordash. If walmart isnt paying them enough to deliver my oil I'm not tipping this isnt pizza.
I actually canceled my order of 4 jugs of m1 esp and went instore instead..
Of course the people of (local) walmart are always entertaining in a "staring at a trainwreck in progress" sorta way.

Tipping is entirely a local thing. In some countries attempting to tip would cause confusion or even be seen as insulting. In some counties you might leave a bit of loose change on the table.
There has been some discussion of this in Canada - tipping expectations are getting out of hand. Rampant tipping started during Covid when people were grateful that they were being provided a service by anyone. And the expectation has continued. Credit card machines for many services suggest a tip, often starting at 18%. [When I tip, I always do a custom tip - what seems reasonable in the situation.]
Everyone in BC - waiters, cleaning staff, etc is paid the legislated minimum wage, which is $18.25/hour.
Hairstylist - of course. Waiter - yes. Clerk in bakery - possibly. Clerk in grocery store - probably not. Mechanic - no. Plumber - no. Dentist - no.

It is similar to the Uber/door dash rip off of employees. Tips are the only thing that makes it worth doing. In most cases they are having to go in the store and shop for the items also. That is worth the 20 bucks or more to me for the massive amount of groceries I get.
Once on a long-distance service call, I stopped at a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant, that was in a narrow section of a small mall. There was construction going on in the back kitchen area and I thought they might be closed. But someone came out to the table area and said they were open. So I ordered, and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally the same man brought my meal and drink and the current bill showing cost, and went back into the work area. No one ever checked to see if I wanted anything more like another cup of coffee, or anything else. And after I finished I could not get anyone's attention and after sitting and trying to get someone to come out so I could pay the bill, for about ten minutes, I put the exact total of the bill, in cash including coins, on-top of the check on the table. Beside that, I left the appropiate tip so they might know I did not forget about the tip, one penny.
I got in my car and as I was pulling out, that man came running out and accused me of skipping out without paying. I calmly said, I put the exact payment amount for the bill on the table on top of the bill, and I also left an appropiate tip.

Tipping in the USA is out of control. Used to be 10% then 15% now 20%+. Now you place an order at Subway, Starbucks etc and they turn the screen around to you and you are faced with a selection to pay with 20% + tip. It's just stupid. Pay your employees a decent wage and move on. Old man rant over.

In Seattle I have seen the selection START at 20% regularly....and once I saw 25%. I always give 20% in restaurants, but if someone is handling me a bagel across the counter, I think 10% is fine. I used to feel uncomfortable going through the gyrations to select a custom tip. No more.
I was taken a back once in a convenience store where I was buying a diet coke and a candy bar and there was the suggested tip on the screen...I happily pressed "no tip"...
Who tips in a Shell station?!
Why would you need to tip them? I have never seen that option come up for me.
I agree with you on the new tipping culture.....with that being said PLEASE do a better job of thread titles. "What the heck?" is not informative of what the content of the post is and this site has guidelines for proper titles and an ADMN just sent a notice about these types if headings. It wastes our time to have to click on something we probably don't care about or worse yet it could be good content that nobody reads because of the title. You could have titles it "Tipping for Walmart order" or something to the sort.
Posting it in an appropriate section such as off-topic would be nice too since this isnt any sort of sale or promotion.
