I'm sure this question comes up now and then but not sure how to search for it. What RPM does a typical gas mower run at?

Honda:
2,950-3,100 rpm**

**Do not try to increase the engine speed above the maximum governed speed. The blades could fracture and come apart

You gotta be kidding me.........they're even in our stupid lawn mowers. Good lord.

Blade tip speed started to be government regulated in the early 80's if I remember correctly. BUT, if you want it different, most engines are easy to adjust to whatever top speed you would like. Of course you will have to learn to do it yourself, because shops probably won't do it for you for liability reasons.

This might be a stupid question.......but how do you measure the RPM? I know how to adjust my RPM and I already bumped it up a little. TIA

My mower is now up to about ~4500 governed. Getting amazing HP out of the 152cc. Haven't stalled it since on the lush juicy grass where it would always balk and stall before.

Tiny tach is probably cheapest.
