What recommendations for selling a Classic vehicle?

Why don't you just put it on Craigslist?
Looks pretty nice, by the way...
I did. I got the usual idiots / scams.

One guy "offered" $300. Two more pumped me incessantly to buy CarFax type reports, telling me they were "THIS CLOSE" to buying my truck sight unseen from out of state locations if I would just buy their reports they kept texting me links to.

I don't need any of that nonsense.

Is there a certain age? In TX its 25.

What is considered a classic car in Texas?
  • Classic vehicles: These are at least 25 years old but not designated as antique. They must undergo an annual safety inspection.
I never regarded it as an antique. Just a classic by TX definition.

That's a license plate and registration definition...not a classic car aficionado definition. I had those goofy plates on my old Chrysler Laser. The fact is it was just a nice old car. You're reaching a bit here on a '97 work truck...

My '95 Caravan must be a classic as well.

I am using the term based on what TX officially designates. I referenced it above.

I am not "reaching' on anything. If you don't like me calling my truck a "classic", that's fine, but its no more than your personal opinion.

Old doesn't necessarily mean classic. Classic cars tend to have some degree of collectability. My 1986 Dodge Daytona is old, but is far from a classic.
Wow, wanted to see pictures of your 1986 Dodge Daytona, and then looked at your signature block that the Daytona is your daily driver.

Would love to see a thread on your Daytona. Especially if I read your signature correctly, it is still your daily driver----- if accurate how do you keep the Daytona running as a daily driver.

Bring it to California, sell it for $7K, and fly home. I’m not even totally joking… you should check out what clean GMT400s are going for around here.

Take a look at bringatrailer dot com. They have many vehicles that have something special. They currently have a 1999 Chevy pickup for sale on their site.

Don't discount craigslist. Yes, some noise/ scammers. Not so long ago I sold two "unique" vehicles through craigslist, after not having success with facebook marketplace.

Selling a unique vehicle at the price you want can be work. If you want to "give the vehicle" away, you will one hundred buyers in an hour.

Here is a problem statement:

How do I sell my 1990s vintage Chevrolet pickup at full asking price, addressing the challenges due to the truck’s age, market competition, and buyer perceptions. Although the truck may be mechanically sound and well-maintained, potential buyers often undervalue older model vehicles, expecting significant discounts regardless of condition. Additionally, inconsistent market interest, pricing expectations influenced by newer models, and limited visibility of the listing contribute to slow buyer engagement. To achieve a full-price sale, how will I identify strategies to communicate the truck’s value, differentiate it from comparable listings, and effectively reach motivated buyers who appreciate classic or well-preserved pickup trucks.

So gfh, have you run it on Cars.com (free WITH pictures) or Auto Trader ($9 with MANY pictures, I think) yet?
+1 on more pics...especially of the underside being it's so desirable.
Stress the Texasness, straightness, originality, Rust free?, AC works?, rolls down the road nice and quiet?
Did Chevy trucks have an odometer that year? If so, what does it read?
'Tis a RWD? ...long-legged Texas truck? Garage kept?...looks it.
Any idea of asking price?
Advertise it on truck fora.

Go here and request a catalog for your truck: https://www.lmctruck.com/freetruckpartscatalog

Thanks.

Thank you to all those who helped.

For the others who are having a problem with me using the word "classic", I didn't mean to upset any of you. Again I just went with the word the State of Texas officially uses for my vehicle. If you like, please take it up with them:

I am sure they would love to hear from you!
