What open end wrench are you using on brakes?

For those of you doing brake work, what wrench are you using to hold that flared nut that secures the slide bolts? A lot of times a standard open end wrench is too thick to fit in there to hold the nut. I don't think all vehicles have this but quite a bit do.

I have a 28 pack of black Husky wrenches I got for $15 on post Xmas clearance.

Brake fluid is so nasty I don't like getting it on my "good" set.

Sometimes I just need the wrench to start things-- some tab or something "catches" later on. If I had to, I'd grind one down.

I use a specific snap-on wrench set that is polished and very thin. Works every time

I just seen Home Depot does sell a Husky thin head wrench set, but it's $30 for a set of 6 wrenches. I'll have to look at them next time i'm at HD.

In my case it is Carl Walter 280PH-10, comes handy on a lot of those sneaky things, e.g. AHC fluid on some Toyota vehicles.

I've got one of those too.

A bike cone wrench from Park Tool can work as well, but they can't handle too much force.

I ground an old open end wrench down, it fits both my Jeeps and works perfectly.

Yes, it is a little thick but then you only need just enough to hold the nut while you undo the bolt with a ratchet. That bolt should not be too tight to begin with.

Rarely have to use a back-up on the slide.....A Impact just zips the bolt right out.

I considered ordering a cone wrench but then just bought a husky wrench at home depot and ground down the open end till it fit. Quick, easy and cheap.
