Hello to all. I now own a 1986 Yamaha Venture. Nice big bike, 1300 cc liquid cooled engine around 27000 miles. The manual says use Yamalube 20/40 oil or 10/30 type se motor oil. I wonder if all that 30 wt dello i have will work. How about 10/40 pcmo oil or do i just go out and buy come 15w40 dello? Any suggestions? Thank you

15w40 Rotella should do nicely. More wet clutch motorcycle owners use Rotella since it doesn't have the moly that Delo does.
Rotella also makes a 10-30. I'd try that, if you get consumption, or if your transmission is "clunky", move to the 15-40.

I'm running 15w40 Tection Extra (Castrol dino) for this OCI. Then I'm going to do an UOA and see how it fares. Then, for the fun of it, I'm going to try some 10w30 Rotella I have and compare to the Tection.
When I get UOA info I'll post.
In the meantime, you can't go wrong with a HDEO designed for diesels. A few years ago a magazine named "Motorcycle Consumer News" (which accepts no advertising dollars!) did a study on many types/brands of oils. The synthetic car oils of the time did quite well, and fared as good as motorcycle specific oils. The HDEO diesel oils did as well also, and even better in some catagories, at a fraction of the cost.
