What oil should i use (e85 gr86)

If you like the amsoil products, I'd step that up to at least the 5w-30 Euro. HPL, Redline, or Motul 300v would be solid choices as well.

Considering an increased frequency of changes, off the shelf M1 euro xw30-40 would be an alternative.
Agree, oils made for extended service intervals are not essential if your changing more frequently due to water etc.
Subaru engines like to go bang.
I'd go thicker until I established through testing thinner was ok.
Hes in Georgia as well. W rating doesn't matter.
What off the shelf good quality thick 40 or 50 is available? With SP for the DI.
I know is an older generation but our EZ30 gets 10W40, one time I had some 10W50 to use up. It didn't care at all.

0W-20 on a tuned engine running E85 doesn’t sound like a good idea…being in a warm climate area, I’d use a good-quality 15W-40 and change it often.

This guy was running a Subaru on E85 and changing oil at 2 k miles. Didn't go so well.

Given it was forced induction on the STi, it might be apples to oranges. You won't know without some testing. so prudence would be indicated me thinks.

Also, WHO ON EARTH THINKS it's a GOOD IDEA to give your teenage child free use of a E85 Tuned STi? I think it's probably the best possible outcome that the engine was lost due to the dunked up rings. Maybe she was just driving it on a valet tune??

I don't run E85 full time, just to race with. Once a month I drain the 93 octane out of my tank then fill with E85, load up my E85 tune and drive it about 75 miles to the track, race it then 75 miles back home.
Royal Purple HPS has performed well for me, according to UOA reports and I'm at 741/864.

You clearly don't know Mike Kojima's background. Ex TRD and Nismo engineer. Knows his ****. But learns from mistakes too.

A good thing you don't use that all the time. E85 is both good en evil.. That being said, i'd run a quality 5w30 on gas (PUP, VRP, etc) and a stout 5w40 on the track. As you are American, you have infinitely more choices then me (Canadian..). Give a holler to the guys at HPL as others have said. They'll gladly help!

I'm not sure you can make that recommendation without more info. It snows and freezes in north Georgia, and OP mentioned driving in the mountains.
