What oil does everyone like for a 2004 mercury grand marquis with 33,000 miles (mom's car)
I have been using motorcraft 5w20 with a motorcraft 820s i was thinking of using pennzoil platinum what does everyone think...Some at my shop think i should use a 5w30 in the summer i like the opinions of oil here better
engine is the 4.6 v8

if it calls for 5-20 your alright, ford motors do like ford oil thats for sure, another good one i have found for the 4.6 is castrol syntec, been having good luck with ours

I have the same car. I've tried both Motorcraft 5W-20 and PP 5W-20. Both work very well. Right now I'm using the PP! I always use the Motorcraft filter.
I make three or four 800 mile round trips a year (San Diego to Phoenix) and both oils work fine - even in the middle of summer in Ca. and Arizona deserts!

The PP with the 15.00 rebate from Wallymart is hard to beat. Great oil and an excellent price!

Ford recommends 5W-20 for this car/engine/year. You could use 5w30, but in my personal opinion, I don't really see much benefit from it.
