To the oil Gods out there, what oil filter or filters has the best filration, with out buying an buypass system.Thank You

I doubt anyone actually knows for sure. The manufactures claims can be ignored because they are all better than the next one, which claims to be better then the next one....
Anyways, the purolator pureone is supposed be be a very good filtering one for around 5-6 dollars. The M1 is supposed to be a tad bit better but is double the money for very little gain.

Baldwin makes a few filters with HPG added to the end of the number. This stands for high performance glass. I would rank these right there with the amsoil filters.

I like the 'capabilities' of a pure synthetic media but it's gonna cost ya'.

I say capabilities because you have micron rating and holding capacity. Check out media manufactures, you can spec whatever you want in microns and there are several approaches to add depth.

Donaldson Syntec, Fleetguard Strapore, and Wix "depth" media (Wix uses only in select filters). FRAM makes a full synth also but it's design for holding capacity not better micron rating. AC Delco UPF is also legendary but availability limited to corvettes/hummer or not at all.

I understand EaO uses one of the above. Like I said gonna cost you though and availability limited. Feature set like silicon ADBV and bypass location get limited even more.

EaO filter is the best spin on oil filter I've experience. In my humble opinion, there is no need for a bypass filter for normal folks that are interested in using a bypass setup. The EaO filter will keep the oil/engine clean. I had used a Trasko filter(toilet paper) and it kept my engine very clean. Fine filtering. The EaO filter kept the oil cleaner longer than the Trasko. Trasko media are recommended for 10K miles. The filter media just could hold so much because of the fine filtering. The EaO filter recommended for 25K miles for normal service. Amazing filter.

Although we have limited raw data on them, I'd rate them in this order

AMSOIL EaO
M1 (also to include UPF AC - which is also made by Champ Labs)
PureOne- most sensible fine(r) filtration for those who must change it every OCI
Wix

Baldwin surely does belong in there somewhere with it's high performance micro-glass ..but I find it hard to place them in the hierarchy since we've seen very little data in terms of particle counts in use. The distribution is also very "non-standard" in terms of uniform pricing. The local distributor may gouge you for it ..and you may not get a fleetfilter-like discount for shipped orders that require semi-bulk purchasing. That is, you may be lucky enough to be near a distributor that won't gouge you and you may avoid having to buy in bulk and avoid S&H. YMMV

Best brands for micron-filtering in typical passenger vehicles.... that are easy to find either in stores or online thru Amsoil dealers here.....

1)Amsoil EaO
2)Mobil-1 EP

All filters claim to be 25% betetr then the "Leading Brand"

FRAM is the leading brand and even they claim they are better then the "leading brand".

It must be great to be 25% better then yourself.

Yes, and it's still alive and well at wefilterit.com It was called a Frantz filter. Under appreciated for its time.

Ralph sells a MG version of a tp filter. They're still somewhat common.

Here is an article talking about oil filters:

http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Filters.html

It is for motorcycles, but the information regarding which filters are better should not be much different between motorcycles and cars.

Personally, I only use Purolator PureONE oil filters in my Avalon.

The ST oil filter claims around 98-99% efficiency at removing harmful contaminants. Does anyone have a guess and/or evidence as to what size contaminants they are referring to? They made the claim, now I'd just like for them to back it up.

If you knew which Ecore got the 9668 media (call them) ..that's a pretty good performance media ...according to the published results.
