The difference between using the recommended lubes vs something else will amount to maybe $20-30 difference over the course of a year. I use Amsoil 5W50 in the engine and the Polaris stuff in the trans and front end. I change it once a year.

That polaris oil has a bad rap online for whatever reason
HPL makes all 3 specific fluids for Polaris & other ATVs. Over the life of your ATV they will just about pay for themselves in fluid savings and fewer maintenance interventions. Combine with Fram Endurance filter, and use the fluids and filter as their manufacturer intended for maximum savings.

Came with my Sportsman when I bought it but I immediately called HPL and ordered 2 full changes which will likely get me from 94 hours when I bought it to at least 500 hours.
I've never had a problem with it. I just use it in the trans and front-end because it is easier than looking for alternatives and wondering about warranty issues. Never had one grenade yet.
Looks like it is about double the cost of Amsoil oil change.
Did you apply the discount code as well? It was not that cost prohibitive when taking into account the increased intervals, at least IMO, considering its good for probably 200 hours or more, especially with an FE7317 onboard.
I’m certainly not going to badmouth the Amsoil offerings, but remember there’s differences why HPL is more expensive, and it’s backed up with science and results. Maybe if @53' Stude still has any of those $10 WIX analysis kits and is willing to share one I’d be happy to send the SXS 10w50 in for everyone.
I don't think I would extend the OCI much on any ATV unless it was ridden very easily on roads or something. Dust, dirt, mud, and water are conditions where you want to change your oil at shorter interval IMO.
My 04 Ranger 500 has pretty bad fuel dilution. When I change the oil it looks clean but smells of gas.

Yes it sometimes gets good and hot but not for a long period of time. I don't notice it "making " any oil just smells like gas.

I'm pretty sure mine had the factory fill at 128hrs when I bought it. Factory oil filter was on it.
I realize the thread is old buy I've been running 0W40 Euro in a '21 Ranger 1000 SOHC. Mostly because I have a lot of it and I'm never enthused about proprietary or boutique products unless absolutely mandatory.

I ran Rotella T-6 5w-40 in a Ranger for 13 years without issue. Frequent short stops and starts, and the oil would smell a little like gas. Like others have said, probably from not running hot long enough. But like I said, 13 years with no ill effects. Not to mention when it's $27 a gallon at Wally world it's not a big deal to change.

I just buy the polaris kit at the dealer. It's actually cheaper than trying to buy the stuff on Amazon. The oil filter says 10 micron on it even lol. I'm sure every manufacturer has an oil change service kit. I haven't really looked into what oils you can use to replace it. Sometimes it's best to just use the manufacturers oil and worry about something else in life. Same with kubotas UDT-2 they don't really have a substitute for it for whatever reason. Not sure why you can't just get whatever the proper number ISO hydraulic fluid and run it, but people seem to have issues doing that.
