Do you guys think sludge will form despite the amount of new oil going into the engine? Wouldn't additives in the new oil prevent this sludge from forming?
Yes, sludge or deposits will form in your oil simply because of excessive blowby due to stuck/coked oil control rings. If oil can seep right through all the rings to get into your combustion chamber area (and oil gets burned as a result), gasoline washoffs along the cylinder wall, as well as other gas during different stages of the reciprocation will definitely seep past all the rings and gets mixed with you oil, accelerating the deterioration of your motor oil.
