Since my car does burn oil by injection, I assume older cars and others (Porsche, Flat 6 in particular in mind) that burn oil in the process could benefit from a cleaner oil is my guess. As I've heard of additives in gasoline as a purpose to clean valves and stuff, but do they use cleaning solution as an additive.
I guess I'm getting at- Does a 30w burn cleaner since it doesn't have the additives that are in a 10w30. Are there any charts for this? Like, we're talking all mineral here- would a 10w40 burn better than 10w30. Or maybe some company engineered an oil that lasts longer, but does so because of adding something to it that doesn't burn in a good way for the engine.
Also, is oil meant to serve as a cushion between the metals OR actually soak into bare metal and help dissipate heat.
