What makes 2 cycle oil premix only?

Some oil says premix only. What makes it only for pre mix? is auto lube considered oil injection? What is pre diluted?

The viscosity on the data sheet must be after the solvent burns off. Example of premix only vs premix/injector. Kendal 2 cycle is premix only, Phillips 66 is premix/injector. Both have nearly the same viscosity at 100c… ahh but viscosity at 40c is much higher with the Kendal. So, yes it seems once the solvent burns off both are the same viscosity, before that the premix only Kendal is much more viscus.
Then that leads to the question of what if an oil does not say it’s ok for injector/premix? Say, a JASO FD rated oil like.. red armor, it’s intrended for premix but it dose not say not for injector.

Then looking at Maxima scooter FC it has higher viscosity than both and it’s a premix/injector. Perhaps as long as the bottle does not say premix only it’s ok.

Depends on temperature, scooter oils injector rated no problem above freezing. Snowmobile oils need to flow at -30f so you will also see snowmobile rated injector oils. Auto lube is an old oil injection marketing term I think that was coined by Yamaha back in the '70's.

Ok, is there such a thing as injection only? Like, Yamalube 2s is supposed to be for injection. Can it not mix?

I have not heard of any "injection only" oils. My current jug of conventional injector oil makes no mention frowning on premixing. If it does? Oops, been premixing this stuff for years. Runs my string trimmers, chainsaw and old sleds.

Yamaha 2s seems to be the only one people say not to pre mix. It’s probably because Yamaha doesn’t provide any information on their bottle regarding injector or pre mix. I wouldn’t see how it wouldn’t mix. Perhaps I should do an experiment. Blend some up in a jar and let it sit for a month or two to see if it separates.

Been two days. Started with 100:1 and could barely tell there was oil. A day outside in down to 35f and a day inside at 72f. I would say it mixes fine. This is 40:1. I only plan on adding 1/2 an ounce per gallon to supplement the auto lube system so. Should be fine
