New thread, ok, let's see... While Googling is always possible, it pales in comparison to the knowledge a glass expert that may reside on here may have.

There has also been discussion as to how the components on a GMC are supposed to be a percent quality grade above the Chevy counterparts, Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ, etc.. maybe the glass is too?

"Privacy glass" is a term I have known since the 90s and how if it's OEM and left the factory like that it's ok.. it is now 2015, almost 2016. Anything different?

Is this not an AUTOMOTIVE GENERAL TOPIC? (Why, kind of like, "Parking?") ...

Regular glass or safety glass, laminated or non-laminated, body tint, film tint or electric smart/auto tint? They say Elvis had a prescription windshield in his Caddy because he was too vain to wear glasses when driving. What exactly is your question, Holio?

Fine, I guess I'll be the one to tell him the secret answer.

It's called window tint Joseph, window tint.

It's plastic, like saran wrap that is a dark color and applied to windows.

Maybe it isn't too common on the east coast where it doesn't get hot?

The trim levels and options are different, but the factory doesn't install GMC or Chevy glass.

That's the factory smoked/tinted privacy glass, expensive pieces to buy, pretty hard to match with stick-on (aftermarket) tint film. For example, on my Ram, it had the factory tint on the rear door glass, the PO had the front door glass tinted-but it doesn't quite match the rears (slightly lighter).

There are different types of privacy glass. A automobile glass MUST BE MARKED as to what it is. A manufacturer stamp.

often the glass markings will have information you can look up.. often patented processes are trademarked with a name.

Usually, Name of Car Manufacturer/Name/Logo of Glass Manufacturer/Brand Name of Glass/AS Number/M Number/DOT Code/E Code. Tinted OEM glass is far superior to aftermarket "driveway" jobs.
