So i got this car battery Jump Starter and it can be (re)charged by connecting a household AC extension cord to it.
HOWEVER, when i used one that I had at home, it won't FIT. The 'prongs' on the jump starter are too BIG for the 'holes' on the end of my extension cord somehow...
I tried several that I had, but they all are the same size..

Here are pics of the PRONGS on the jump starter and the 'holes' on the female side of my ext. cord:

Do i need a different type of extension cord with bigger female end?

Looks like people on Amazon used this one: how is this one different from the one that I used?

No a just regular extension cord with a front facing socket. The one you have is used on some appliances and computer PSU,its not an extension cord.

I would look for 14AWG wire gauge to ensure full power flow. Lower number is thicker gauge wire. 18AWG is a little wimpy IMO.

I gotta ask, if you thought that was an extension cord, have you just never once used an extension cord in your life before?

Or for that matter if you have, what did you ever manage to get fit into it?

I mean, seriously, it doesn't even look like a socket...

LOL glad I provided some humor. I really must have been in some sort of a stupid haze. I mean, I am not an expert in mechanical things, but i putz around pretty often with electronics / electrical stuff and do even small DIY stuff on cars and laptops!

What confused me was the comment that that ext cord i linked to on amazon was described as a 'jump starter specific' ext cord with 'smaller receptacles resembling those of an appliance power cord' by many on amazon, which, of course was NOT true, and thinking they must mean something special I tried whatever cables I had.

And no, i do NOT really have a 'real' simple ext cord (one with a single female and a single male end) except for the multi-plug/receptacle extension cords, which of course cannot be used for the application.

In your defence, Amazon certainly does have some rather bizarre product descriptions and titles.
