Got a saw and it came with this gold color fuel. I did not trust it so I dumped it.

If it was modern and maybe sold retail like home depot or such what would it be.? This caught me off guard and I dumped it not trusting it was properly mixed. For all I know it might have been excellent.

you're right to dump it if you don't trust it. I would dump it no matter the colour and mix my own.

The undyed 2-stroke I have is a store brand, full synthetic.

The last Stihl Synthetic grey bottle that I bought was not dyed. Mobil 1 2T used to be un-dyed. Amsoil Interceptor is just oil colored.

Sometimes 2 stroke oil for injection systems is un-dyed. I used to get it from the skidoo dealer from a drum and it was always clear.
I've never used anything with an oil injection system, but that's good to know and seems logical if you're not keeping track of containers with straight gas vs mixed. I appreciate the companies that just make it obvious with blue or red dye.

Yep, I agree, and I won't buy 2 stroke oil that isn't dyed for premix. Just for piece of mind and now with the kids, that is the last check when filling the 2 strokes, is the gas dyed? If not, don't use it, mix it and then fill up.

I have some un-dyed 2 stroke oil. I thought it was a bit odd but looking at it's application, this product was more aimed at injection on performance sleds. It wasn't really aimed at us slobs using it for premix.

To clarify it was an open box new saw that the prior owner gassed and oiled complimentary. I was not going to take chances in buring up and otherwise perfect engine. I have ran oils from the 1980s up till now and never ran across a batch that was un-dyed. Kendall oil in PA had a Victory 2 T 2 cycle oil that was a dark gold, and it was a great oil, but it did darken the batch of fuel to an amber color.

Novice Lumberjack just mixed up a gallon of MotoMilk at 40:1, and I hate the fact the dye is light. But at least it was mixed correctly.

The undyed oils I've seen lately have been Amsoil Interceptor, MX2T, and Liqui Moly off-road 2-T that was red but it didn't dye the fuel in any way.
