IMO, a modern supercar would have to have over 500 HP, be a 2-seater mid-engine arrangement, have a certain type of wide and low-slung look, be able to do 200+ mph stock and cost over $120,000.
Muscle cars would not count, neither would Vettes or Vipers in my book, even if they exceeded the HP, cost and top speed targets.
The NSX would fall short on sheer weakness.

Lamborghini Countach/Diablo/Murcielago - supercar
Ford GT/GT40 mk II+ - supercar
Bugatti Veyron - supercar
McLaren F1 - supercar

Koenigsegg CC8/CCR/CCX - supercar
etc...
I wouldn't even consider the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, Ferarri 599, etc. supercars due to appearance and drivetrain layout. JMO...
