I havent had a chance to compare, since we dont have a Ferrari Dealership here, only Audi and Porsche. For practical reasons and my pocketbook: 67 Chevelle SS 396 with a 427; 98-?? BMW M Roadster, 71 Fury with 440, Pontiac G8, BMW M5. I know it would NOT be a Porsche 996 or 928. I'll take a lesser Ferrari V8 in Yellow or Graphite if anyone is feeling charitible

I agree with tonycarguy. Cars listed here that (at least at one time) were affordable to the common person are not "super" cars.

Even the NSX is borderline by that definition. Speaking of which, I drove a black 1994 when I worked for the Acura dealership ... got it over 100mph twice.

Viper, no question. Pretty much any year, any sub-model. Of course the ACRs are the top performers, but I love the looks of the original Roadster. Almost "home made" looking 3-spoke wheels and all.

Second choice would be the Ford GT-40.

Third: Lamborghini Miura, circa 1964.



And while I actually admire and enjoy classic muscle cars like the GTO, 'Cuda, Charger, etc. *more* than I like "supercars," I agree that they are not supercars. Unless they're given this treatment:

IMO, a modern supercar would have to have over 500 HP, be a 2-seater mid-engine arrangement, have a certain type of wide and low-slung look, be able to do 200+ mph stock and cost over $120,000.

Muscle cars would not count, neither would Vettes or Vipers in my book, even if they exceeded the HP, cost and top speed targets.

The NSX would fall short on sheer weakness.

I wouldn't even consider the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, Ferarri 599, etc. supercars due to appearance and drivetrain layout. JMO...

The Ford GT and the Porsche 959. Not sure if the 959 is a true "supercar" but it is in my book.
