When I talked to Mobil 1 yesterday, they told me that MOBIL 1 SUPERCAR 5W-50 and their euro 5W-50 were different. A couple of things that they told me were different was 1200 ppm zinc in the Supercar oil and only 1000 in the Euro. If I remember correctly, there was more phosphorus in the supercar.

I should’ve asked them how long the SUPERCAR 5w-50 is good for when you track the car and daily drive it.

I have a 2022 10r80 Mach 1 Mustang with the Coyote and about 9400 miles on it, and heat exchanger for all the fluids. Everything I’ve read so far says to always change to fresh oil before you track and after you track.

I’m wondering since I’m using Mobile 1 SUPERCAR 5W-50. Would it be OK to change to that before I go to Summit Point track for about 80 minutes, on track. Then just leave the oil in for another 5000 miles or more? MACH 1 has heat exchangers for all the fluids, including the oil cooler and it holds 10 quarts of oil? So it keeps the fluids cooler. It is SUPERCAR 5W-50.

And would it be different if I was going to VIR Virginia international raceway, which is a bigger faster track?

Should MACH 1 owners change any other fluids post track time on a Mach 1?

Also, is it a great idea to change the oil pan to the aluminum one with baffles to make sure there is always oil getting to the engine especially in the corners? Is the Ford Performance one a direct fit with no modifications or should I go with some aftermarket 10 quart capacity oil pan WITH BAFFLES?

Also, I assume the aluminum pan would help to cool the oil also versus the plastic one.

Thank you.

I mean Ford says you can use blended oil which can be anywhere from only 5% to 20% full synthetic and the rest conventional. so I would think using if not the best oil for this car, one of the best for this car should make a big difference in a good way.

I would be more concerned with the 10R80 than the engine.

Are you talking 80 min solid lapping or something like 4 20 min sessions. If you're talking sessions, I don't think I would worry about the engine oil too much other than to shorten your OCI down to something like 3000 miles if you're daily driving the car.

As for the 10R80. If it is still the plastic pan on there, swap it out for an aluminum one with the drain plug, it will make you servicing much easier. If tracking is something you do a lot of, then I would drain and fill every 10k on the trans.. Over 30,000 miles and 3 D&F's you will have replaced most all of the fluid, just done so over time. I (obviously) don't track my Ranger, but I do tow a fairly heavy travel trailer and D&F every 10k (In addition to using Lubegard Platinum) and so far (At 60k) everything is just dandy with the box.

I would say you also need to monitor temps on the transmission. They have a fun little deal where they will appear to run away with the temps and before you know it you're at 250 degrees and spitting out fluid. Come up with a way to monitor the temp and don't let it climb to much more than 220-230 max.

I use M1 5w50 FS in my 2017 Mustang GT for HPDE. I used to do 2 events before changing the oil, 80 minutes per event like you. I recently started doing 3 events per. Oil analysis after every change indicates things are OK however I usually have between 1-2k miles on each change. The lead in my analysis is from using 100 octane unleaded at the track, I switched to E85 and the lead has essentially gone away. No doubt I could daily drive for a couple thousand extra miles but I like draining and inspecting the filter every 2-3 events to catch anything starting to deteriorate.

I keep oil temps to a max of 260F. I have a Moroso baffled oil pan, aftermarket Setrab oil cooler, and run the big Ford Performance 820 filter that’s like $15.

I have an MT82 so can’t help you with the transmission stuff. I change the diff fluid every 4 events, car does not have a diff cooler. If your car has a diff cooler you could probably increase that interval by twice or more.

Two data points for you:

80 minutes should be around 15% used up based on 0W-40 Supercar in a 323 ci Mod Motor (Just over 600 bhp gross, 8200 rpm limiter) . Looked good at 8 hr, was starting to look iffy at 10 hr.

My Gen 1 Coyote always tracked 10,000 mi or 12 months on the IOLM. It hit 0% in 3300 mi and 7 months when I had about 3 hr at Road Atlanta on it.
