Napa Gold (same as Wix) was a distant second but still got a lot of love.

So really, Napa Gold/Wix gets 8, and Napa Platinum/Wix XP gets 2 votes

NOTE: I did not count the CQ Blue since they have changed suppliers at least twice since Wix last supplied CQ.

Whilst the BITOG darling FU (I co voted for) is fiber over wire at high efficiency - the Wix XP seems to be of similar construction at a much lower efficiency - often attacked here - but is the NAPA sister filter treated the same by the tribe ?

I am happy to see my Luber Finer PH477 came in sixth. Not too shabby. The Chevrolet oil filter was also a mentioned favorite and would have been sixth if included.

Yes, same guts therefore same low efficiency.

Can't really say that I have a "favorite" premium oil filter, but based on what I have gathered so far, if I had to choose which premium filter I think is currently the "best", then I would choose:
FRAM Ultra Synthetic

Napa Gold/Wix is not in the same premium class as the others. I agree it is a solid choice, but find it strange that so many people are calling it their favorite premium filter. That is kind of like calling Buick your favorite high end luxury car. No knock on Buicks, but that isn't the class Buick or Napa Gold play in.

Of the premium filters, Fram Ultra offers high quality engineering, construction and performance and is generally more available and less expensive than other premium filters. That combination puts in clearly at the head of the category IMO.

Well, the XP/Platinum doesn't seem to quite qualify as premium, except in pretension and price.
