What is your EDC Pistol?

if u feel the need to go armed with a gun, i suggest you wear a bullet proof vest, they are not comfy ......but to each his own.......
If I knew I needed a gun, it sure wouldn’t be a concealed carry pistol, it would be a rifle, with a full size duty pistol as back-up.

But, and this is really important, if I knew I needed a gun, I would absolutely avoid the fight by not being there.

Well said and I’m sure Clint Smith would wholeheartedly agree.

This makes zero sense in a typical life situation.
Walking to your car parked in a parking garage in a marginal location, withdrawing cash from an ATM, this list could go on for dozens of everyday life situations. So you think slinging a carbine over your back and having a full size duty sidearm is the way to go...you might want to backup and regroup on that .

You misunderstand.

When you carry an EDC it’s because you might need a gun. Might.

Not because you know you’re about to get into a gunfight.

If you KNOW that today, you’re about to get into a gunfight, you’ll bring your carbine not your EDC. SEALs don’t go into a fight with an EDC. They bring the weapons they need to win the fight. Which includes a rifle.

What we are discussing here is the difference between a plan, and a contingency.

EDC is a contingency.

All due respect...you've overcomplicated the OP.
The OP assumes one has a CCW and accordingly, what sidearm is others personal choice.
How you weaved carbines/rifles and duty weapons into it is a mystery only solved by you.

Not a mystery. Not a stretch.

Take a look at my post.

I was clearly responding to CourierDriver’s weird, off topic “bullet proof vest” by quoting him.

And answering that weird, off topic statement.

You’re correct that it wasn’t helping the OP but I’m not the one that took us off, and I couldn’t let that odd comment stand.

I didn’t need to go armed with a gun… until I did. But I didn’t have your crystal ball to tell me I did or didn’t.

Same here. I thought I would have been fine, until I wasn't. I got very lucky that one time and learned a lesson I won't make the same mistake again.

I'd carry around a 240B, but that may raise some suspicions.

Life is full of compromises.

EDC requirements, simply put:

1. You shoot well with it within normal defensive distances (varies depending on circumstances).
2. It's comfortable (enough) to carry on your person that you won't wanna leave it at home or in your vehicle.
3. It's safe / secure to carry in your chosen holster.
4. It's dependable (fires when you want it to, every time).

Most modern handguns can meet these simple requirements if you put in the time to practice with your equipment (gun and holster). We're fortunate to live in a time where we have unprecedented choice and availability of firearms that are mostly decent quality and dependable, and you don't have to spend a lot of money nowadays to get one.

EDC is another way of saying "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it"
I have two, depending on situation and season
1. Sig P365x w/147gr HST LE
2. S&W M642UC w/125gr Speer Gold Dot +P
If you carry it, it's necessary to be willing to use it and trained to do that competently.
