I'm no hunter but I would think that would plenty of range for most stuff small/medium game. Unless your going after mountain goats.:)

Pablo, you're just chompin at the bit to kill yourself a hog. I can tell by your recent gun purchases.

Don't worry, I feel the same way. I just got back from a vacation to Arkansas, where I found this magazine in a bookstore and thought you might be interested:

The website doesn't do it justice - I bought the current issue as well as the last remaining previous issue that must have been overlooked during the last restocking and I have to say I'm impressed. It's not Sports Afield, but there's a lot of dead hogs in it.

Looks like it's available at a bunch of Barnes & Nobles in Washington - you might check into it next time you're that way.

The theory is correct though, and is more applicable to cowboy shooting IMO. You have the carbine and the pistol and only have to carry one caliber.

I wasnt trying to say that the .30 was an existing pistol cartridge used for the M1 carbine. It was the first cartridge that came to mind that was chambered for both a rifle and pistol, different time periods or not.

I've got a blackhawk in .30 carbine. BIG fireballs. Great fun.
