As for me, the cost difference from cheap is not that great to worry about, so I go with my favorite, Valvoline Maxlife (on sale) and various Group III oils I got for a super discount deal (and the clearance Redline from Adv Auto.)

Do you use Valvoline MaxLife in any low mileage cars?

I don't have any low mileage cars. Started Maxlife in the motorhome around 69,000 miles (it was only 13 years old then). The other vehicles are over 100,000 miles. But I would have no problem running it in a low mileage car and with the free Maxlife offers that have been around I'm sure many on this site have.

What viscosity, bigwillie?

If you can take 15-40 the diesel CI-4 and CI-4+ oils are hard to beat.

My manual says I can take the 15-40 but it's not "preffered" do you really think 15-40 is better?

Best dino?

I'd say any HDEO(high additive potency, partial to Delo 400) followed by any Grp III dino/HC oils.

p.s. After getting rid of all the Delo 400 qts at Wallys...now they raised the 4qt jugs to $7.08.

Plus HIGH TBNs in addition...

If you are going to go dino, I am in with the HDEO guys. You might want to consider Castrol RX. b..w.., my one question would be, if you love your ride, why would you even be concerned with cheap dino?

Nowadays, some of the cheap dinos are just as good as the nationally advertised brands... which are sometimes higher in price simply because of advertising.

According to used oil analysis here, nothing wrong with
Super Tech
Citgo
Havoline
Napa
etc... etc... etc
