In the Good old days Bob used to do some 'Tests'
O.K. some were pretty Hokey, but they raised some interesting issues none the less.
How about this as a 'What if'
We take several identical items (such as Rocker Arms) from a single sludged engine, we mount these items on a shaft and immerse each item in a pot of oil, or oil plus a cleaning additive. The pots are arranged on a hot plate, or on a plate in a BBQ, to heat the oil to an approximation of engine temperature. A gear head motor would rotate the sludged items in the heated oil for a set period of time, Then the items are removed and compared to asses the cleaning ability of each Additive??
