What have you always wanted to do but haven't yet.

- Run up the Empire State Building, see how many floors I can make it.

Apparently the annual run up event is invite only, there is a lottery but only a few spot with slim chances. I probably wouldn't make it up the entire way and it would be a waste to see someone slow down on floor 10 and by lying on the ground by floor 20

Wouldn't you be worried about radioactive dust? I know people say it's safe etc, but there's got to be a higher risk stepping in to the building or even being in Pripyat.

There are people living in the area, who went back, or never really left.

Some fool texting, or thinking STOP means slow down and coast through the intersection is a greater daily risk for me.

But while on the subject of decay pron, it would also be fun to sneak into the hangar with the abandoned Soviet space shuttles.

Nothing goes to waster in hunting elephant. The villagers fet all the meat and it gives them needed protein. When you shoot an elephant- it’s amazing- you can ve out in the middle of nowhere in the bush and villagers just appear. Nothing goes to waste- three hours after you shoot an elephant there is just a grease spot on the ground. Even so, it brings a tear to your eyes having shot such a magnificent animal.

Advantages of hunting elephant:

Population management: Hunting can help manage elephant populations, reducing human-wildlife conflict and protecting crops.

Economic benefits: Trophy hunting can generate significant revenue for conservation efforts and local communities.

Conservation funding: Hunting permits and fees can support anti-poaching efforts and habitat protection.
Yeah, I was a long time hunter. Killed lots of game. For some reason. I know for a fact I could not bring myself to shoot an elephant.
I get it that they do not go to waste and that is a great thing. Conservation for several reasons and also to protect the health of the herd in general is a good thing too.

I feel the same way about predators (cats - lions & leopards- anything you bait) and giraffe. I know they need to be culled as well- but not by me. On the other hand- i could hunt cape buffalo every year. But im getting too old to fly a 17 hour flight to Africa - it gets harder every year.

You know it would only take a few bucks to bribe some officials / military for access.
It won't. Those times are long gone, if there ever were any. A photographer friend got on a motorcycle trip to the Pamir mountains and back ago and returned through that area. He had a full folder of signed and stamped exclusive authorizations from the Russian embassy at his place (not some clerk stuff, an official request to the mothership with all the authorizations and back and forths), and he was barely allowed in.

He was stopped a countless checkpoints hundreds of miles before approaching the area, had a military escort in the last legs of the ride - it wasn't trivial.

He made it to the Buran shuttle's hangar though. Took plenty of unique pictures of that and of the whole area, then ended up not publishing a single one in the expo at his return because he felt the Russians a bit too pushy on how things should be presented, and he didn't ride 8k miles on bad roads or no roads at all to serve them a PR stunt - so his comment on the Russian leg of his trip was pretty much a flat "And once at the Chinese border, I returned through Russia" 😇 .

And no, it's not the guy who snuck there in 2018 on a bicycle and hid in the hangar for three days to take pictures. He was there in 2011 I think.

I loved the Buran. As useless as it was - when it flew in 1988 everyone was about how it looked like a knock-off of the Space Shuttle, few commented on how it did a fully automated landing at a crazy slope with 30 to 40 knots crosswinds...

Actually though if you would have asked me that same question 3 years ago: I have wanted to be a Freemason for decates but fear of the unknown/failure. Finally overcame that and became one and now I am an officer in 2 lodges.

Don't ever allow fear of failure stop you.
Is it at all what you expected? I have always been interested in them too.

Naw, that stuff is heavy, you'd have to work to stir it up and you carry a meter with you to make sure you steer clear of the hot areas. I'm a big urbex guy and Chornobyl is pretty much the "ultimate" urbex destination.

@Pablo- if you shoot a Cape Buffalo and it dies right away- it tastes a lot lije lean beef. Some of the real old dagga boys dont taste quite as good. If you wound a buffalo and have to track it for a while and they get their adrenaline up- it stays in the meat.

Elephant meat is really good. Tastes like hippo 👌🏻 Very marbled meat. My favorite meat (better than any steak I’ve ever had) is Eland.
