And the DRM Drama Drill caused me to swear off DeWalt. Forever. (almost exactly 20 years ago if you wanted to sell ANY yellow drill on ebay Dewalt would get your auction canceled for copyright infringement and ebay would do it!)

I try to avoid this portion of the forum *generally* (but not always..haha...clearly as I'm responding here) but I always find the general/off-topic area of many pointed forums like BITOG, other brand-specific auto forums I participate in/mod a bit odd. This is what FB or other social media outlets is for to me at least. I come here primary for the technical bits.
I've been a member here for a long time, long enough that Bob and I spoke on the phone several times. I welcome the changes and progression here. "This here water thin 20 wt oil will blow up your engine" crap got really old really quick. There's more to life than oil.
I find the general off topic posts to be very uninteresting for the most part. I feel like the weather and personal a day in life issues or events are the bulk of the posts. Not my cup of tea so I ignore it mostly. People just like to tell their story.
They just want to "socialize" .... like people do on Facebook, etc

I find that very often some people embody the very thing they say they hate or dislike. Someone will say they hate liars, but they are usually the biggest liar in the room. Or someone will say they hate gossiping, but they gossip more than anybody. Etc.Bur say they hate/don't use social media
It is a strange phenomenon of the human condition.
Projection is a thing. Especially in politics. If you want to know what a political entity is up to, the first thing to do is look at what they accuse their opposition is doing. Please don't go any further with this for the sake of the board rules.

I am chuffed my YMCA post has achieved Legend Status, I'd have a T-Shirt commissioned if it wasn't such a niche accomplishment .
I don't do Facebook, X, IG. I am on Reddit but almost never start a thread, always commenting. So BITOG for me is a community of people that I can - mostly - relate to and share information with.

The non-fluid parts of the forum are the best parts of the forum. Up in the gasser oil section, it's all.... icky. Everyone up there is Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking (in their own minds) but, in reality, most of them are more in the "Hi, I'm Michael Scott" category.
Down here in the party section, we don't mock you if you use Charmin and hate Angel Soft. The Crest users don't tell the Colgate users that their front teeth are going to grenade at 140k bites, nor do they fight or argue if someone DOESN'T brush 4x/day.
We do tell each other things like "no, your granite countertops look like a volcano melted a bunch of rock together and my quartz countertops looks like Jesus Hisself blessed it", but we don't break out the torches and pitchforks nearly as often. And when we do, it's usually because it's to roast hotdogs.
