Yes I know I could probably find the answer on Google, but I'm too squeamish to look; I'd rather hear it from you guys.

To rent a Toyota Camry type car for a week; what would it cost?

It will vary by a huge range, depending on where you're renting it from. You really need to do a proper search in order to find the right answer, because it could be anywhere from $150 to $500.

Do you participate in a airline frequent mileage program or a hotel points program? Even memberships like AAA offer discounts.

Go to the various websites and plug in your info and check the costs out.

Also depends on WHERE you plan on renting from. Airport location, or downtown?
Then there's the factor of what time of year, if it's during a long weekend/public holiday etc.

Too many factors to give an accurate range.

Heck, I've rented 5.0 mustang convertibles for 18 dollars (taxes in) for a weekend.
On the other extreme, I've rented puddle jumpers for astronomical prices.

Airport location usually charge more due to their facility charge, etc.

Try to find off airport location.

Then, you need to find discount code like from airlines or hotel frequent flyer/stay program, costco, etc.

Oh ya, renting for 7 days, they usually price it the same as 5 days.
Other factor like age, below 25 is usually more expensive than above 25.

Agree. The off airport locations will almost always be cheaper by far. Good point.

I have rented dozens of cars over the past 3 decades, from many different places, and I haven't run into very many that even have a mileage limit anymore.

Only when renting elite/super performance cars have I experienced this.
Luckily, I managed to have fun and stay within the free mileage allotment

Me, too. Every rental I take is unlimited miles.

2014 we rented a Maxima for two weeks for just under $800 and 4,800 miles.

We got a better deal as we were dropping it off at SFO

That's going to vary highly where you're at... for a week if I rent locally a full size is $275. If I go to the airport, that same car is now $557.

Just go to the company's website and do a fake rental… There's no requirement to follow through with it and you can cancel at any time without penalty. I generally use Enterprise; they seem to be less expensive. I have seen a Camry rented for as low as about 169 for a week up to about 380 I think if I remember correctly.

Make sure you have supplemental rental car coverage from a source other than the rental car company, such as credit card company or your car insurance company. Take evidence of that insurance with you when you rent. The rental car company insurance is usually a rip-off.

The best rate ever was using work discount and getting BMW X5 for $35/day at Enterprise. The worst $200/day on holiday week. Use google it depends on location and demand.

I just checked the Louisville area and cheaper to rent in Indiana across the river. Must be lower taxes on the rental. $21/day for a corolla or equivalent.

I went on a cruise last week and got stuck in Denver Co and the next flight from Denver to Sioux Falls was about 2 days out therefore we were able to fly to Rapid City which is only 350 miles from Sioux Falls. We wanted to get home therefore I rented a 2018 Tahoe and a motel and we stayed overnight on Saturday and drove
home the next day in a ground blizzard. The Tahoe 4x4 was filled up completely with gas and it cost $207,00 out the door and I brought it back with 1/8 of a tank left. I thought that was a reasonable price for a rental and I did have AAA and don't know if that helped any or not.
