What do YOU store your used oil in?

Hello folks. I need ideas on what I can store my used oil in. I had been using a regular plastic drain pan for the oil changes, and then putting that oil in an old 5 gallon steel container that Isopropyl Alcohol came in. When it would get full I would go drop it off at the parts store. The plastic spout part broke off of that container, and I no longer work at the place that uses the IA, so I need to find something else. Thanks

another option is one of 'dem red plastic gasoline canisters, just mark it "used oil"

I just recycle the 1 gallon oil jugs for used oil storage until I can get to the oil recyclers.

I use a Blitz 12-quart Dispos-Oil recycle can. I bought it at Walmart.

I use empty Clorox jugs, or empty windshield wiper fluid jugs. In a pinch, gallon of milk or orange juice jugs.

i pour it into the empty from the same oil change. excess new oil goes to a clean oil bottle.

I've got a 20 litre drum (used to hold shellite), that gets most of it. They recycle now in town, so I can drop the oil off at the council, and take the drum home.

Up until they started recycling in town, after I'd filled three drums waiting, I'd put it into the empty 5 litres and throw it into the bin (where the council told us to put it).

A 5-gallon plastic pail. Usually once we get to 15 gallons, my dad takes it and dumps it in the used oil tank at his work.

I use old 5qt. oil jugs. This way there not to heavy and they were made for oil to begin with.

Yup, empty milk jugs. I don't change the oil in my vehicles but do so with my outboard( 4-stroke ), lawn mower, and snow blower. Don't actually store it though. I do the OC and drain into a pan and then I pour into a milk jug and take it to the local AutoZone for recycling as soon as I am over that way. Don't keep used oil around longer than a week as a rule.

Most 1 gallon bottles like Clorox, or Anti-Freeze bottles, etc. work great. They seal up tightly, and can make the 1 mile trip to AAP.

The kitty litter jugs, the 2 1/2 inch opening makes it easy to pour into and when full thet're not to heavy. Dang I don't like this getting old but it better than the other option.

I bought a oil jug at Walmart. I think it might be a 2 1/2 gallon one.

Nice cause it has a wide mouth and short and wide so it won't tip over easy.

Empty gallon detergent bottles, quite sturdy and a nice wide mouth.

Almost any container with a lid that seals reasonably well will be suitable.
The empty jug from which you just poured in the fresh oil is perfect, but I've used empty milk jugs, bleach bottles, windscreen washer fluid bottles, and so on. Whatever falls to hand.

I use an old military jerry can, 5 gallon. I bought a bunch at sportsmanguide.com for $15 or so awhile back.

Until I moved into an apartment, I'd "recycle" it by pouring it into my 300gal fuel oil tank.

I've got two 5 gallon jugs with drum bungs

They sorta look like this.

I've also got several 5 gallon pails.

While they work, the vendor 4 and 5 quart jugs tend to be less stable when transferring from the drain pan to the jug for transport. It's not rocket science, but no reason to worry about it if you can just eliminate the hassle.
