What do Mobil's product names signify?

Not bad, indeed. But do you perchance take into consideration the brand as well? There is still some significance to the reputation, formally speaking, isn't there?
I do. I’d rather have more data, but in absence of that I would tend to pick an equivalent M1, Shell, or Castrol product over most others. All approvals being equal.

New (2021) car is specd. as 229.51, 229.52 etc. - 0W-20. Obviously still under warranty. Been using M1 ESP 0W-30. Mobil website now tells me I should use M1 ESP X2. What gives? The ESP X2 is NOT widely available at walk-in outlets so sticking with M1 ESP 0W-30. Another cause for anxiety??? Or just marketing hype causing confusion?

Is this anything to do with the price? X1 such as super 3000 x1 is their bargain basement full synthetic, and x2 somewhat more expensive. Then comes their Mobil 1 which is top of the line in spec and price.
