What Did You Get For Christmas?

Wife and I are jewish but we exchange gifts.

I'll find out Xmas morning what I get.

I'm getting my wife some high heel boots. She wears a 10.5 which makes it a challenge.
This would drive gregk24 crazy if his wife did this:
Here she is leaning up on my Elantra scratching it with with the rivets in her jeans.
Give her a tube of SCRATCH-X for Christmas to remove the rivet scratches. :D

In laws always act like cake eaters. Bro and sister in law don’t. Nephews are lil’ brats. Always on computers or phones.

used to help me build a fire; not anymore these days

Aw man, sorry to hear that. It should be a time of joy and happiness.
I miss the days when all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins got together at my grandparents home for the holidays. :(

Oh it is happy. When nephews gripe I say: “you get me nothing, but I give you cash or gift card, so what the heavens?”

Man me too BlueOval!! Our holidays were EXACTLY like that!! Parents and grandparents have all passed. Cousins aunts and uncles all go their own ways. Holidays have gotten so depressing. Makes me miss all those who are no longer with us. 😢 I honestly can't stand the holidays. Dread their approach, and so relieved when they're over. All the holidays are to me now is just a day or two off form work.

Same boat, here. I don't hate the holidays, but I miss those times... Staggering away from the desert buffet, awesome food, playing card games and laughing with all the cousins and even hearing the older folks complaining about politics and the state of the world.

I feel like we're all more cynical and jaded these days, even the kids, too. Kind of sad.

I got a new battery heated coat, a brand called ORORO.

I've completely worn out the zipper of my older battery powered Gerbing unit which I was otherwise happy with. It used smaller 7 volt lithiums.

Part of the reason is that Gerbing used a crappy generic zipper(I think a chain zipper vs coil?) , whereas the ORORO uses a YKK zipper which is the brand you go to when you want quality and no problems.

The ororo is really nice and heats up very quickly. the battery pack is like a hard drive, but it stores enough to charger other devices.

Those Christmas family get togethers were wonderful. Wish I had had the presence of mind to appreciate them more. Just fifty some year old photos now to remember how good it was to drive home for the holidays. Times long gone by. Things change.

34" of fine Powder skiing with daugher (15), skipping a day of work(I bill hourly) this past Thursday. This is very rare in NH. One ski area/town got 48" in the storm over 24 hrs. We dropped $110 to ski only 3.5hrs.

My daughter now wants to ski out west with me. Great memory with my daughter!

I bought this for myself.
