As some of you have read, I went with my mother yesterday to test drive a few cars as shes in the market for one. We test drove a 2009 Fusion guessing we would like it, but we really didn;t. One major thing was the motor. It was a 2.3L I4. Every time you revved it it had a wine to it, and constantly sounded like it was running rough. I guess it sounded weak almost when it rran. Is this normal for Fusion's or was there possibly something wrong with that one?? Thanks

I dont like that mazda engine. Long TC, Sticky TC tensioner and non adjustable valves without teardown. AT ;east the car uses COP whereas the ranger truck uses a terrible waste spark coil setup. Not good with marginal e10 fuel quality. Leads to coil terminal crossfiring/shorting.

What kind of car and engine set up are you used to from a noise standpoint? I must admit, though, noise and vibration are usually better controlled in new cars.

Does it have a hydraulic power steering pump? They can imitate superchargers when revved. Can't imagine its a common issue in a 3 year old car but maybe?
