You're gleeful when the OCI hits 4,8xxx miles, because that's close enough to 5k miles, which means you get to use that $125 oil extractor once again, and you feel justified in its purchase (two years ago) because you're done with the oil change 20 minutes later. Oh, and of course, the oil filter is accessible from "up-top"... on both of your vehicles, because you planned it that way. ;)

Additional BITOGer points for taking a UOA sample, sending it to (blank) - Blackstone Labs in my case, and then watching USPS.com tracking to make sure the sample doesn't get hung-up in Fort Wayne, IN, for weeks on-end (managing expectations these days), which incidentally happened to the last sample I sent in.

Someone who buys the cheapest motor oil with the longest advertised mileage guarantee but only if there is a rebate available. Then they take samples and do multiple UOAs because they don't want to hear from other BITOGers that they "ain't done used it 'nuff!"

Gotta make sure they squeeze every last penny out of every motor oil and oil filter purchase they make to save money even though they spend extra money to get multiple UOAs done.

I've been finding myself changing the on the 5's--when the odometer hits 5k, 10k, 15k etc. Only thing is... about 200 or so miles before, I wind up doing it, because it's better to do it early than late right? but it means it's really still 5k on the oil--it's just that it's being done before the 5 on the odometer. But that makes me feel better.
