Went to the Subaru dealership for differential fluid change. I would assume they would used OEM subaru brand.

I got curious. When i search the part number: SCICAS0102401 and name: 3750 Syngear 75W90 Keg 61L , i get different answers like either Castrol, Chevron, or a few other brands i never heard of.

I tried asking the dealership but they wouldn't give me a proper answer. Any clue what the diff fluid is?

3750 Syngear seems to line up with a Castrol product.

I think you're right, the UPC matches closely. i was also comparing this vs. Castrol Syntec Limited Slip 75W90, but that appears its for LS, which i don't think its usable in my car (a 2014 Crosstrek)

Syngear certainly looks on paper to be a better fluid than the Syntrax.

Either way, Castrol is plenty good enough to put up with the loads Subaru diffs have to deal with. You’re only talking about 120HP per axle at best even if you’ve got a stock WRX.

But, if the dealership won’t give you a clear answer, you should give them one: never take your car there again, and make sure the service manager knows.

yup, it's probably the last time i go there for a Service. I went there because of the convivence and i felt like i was in a rush (other day i thought i heard my CVT or diff being louder than usual). They also sneakily charged me extra for "lubricating my doors/ hinges" which is something i didn't ask for nor need, they weren't making noise. i was able to get that refunded.
